Ring of Earth- Great Read!!

Masamoto is in exile banished by the new Shogun and Jack is on the run with a price on his head. All foreigners have been banished to remain is death and many have failed to make it to the ships in Nagasaki to flee the Island. In a desperate attempt to avoid capture by the Samurai seeking him Jack steps into a snare is captured by someone whom it seems is no more than a young boy thinking Jack with his blond hair and blue eyes some kind of demon.

Jack is finally released by the young boy after his grandfather assures him it is alright. He offers Jack a place to stay and rest along his journey until the search for him dies down. Jack is at rest here in this peaceful village all seems serene and calm.

Shadows in the night put Jack on high alert, as he runs to save and protect his new benefactors, Ninja! The fear and hatred well up in Jack as he confronts his enemy. But Soke (grandfather) and young Hanzo need no saving for they too are Ninja, out of the pan into the fire? Convinced to stay and train with them Jack is still wary of the Ninja for they killed his father and his friends, but one branch does not make the forest Soke tells him. Thus Jacks starts another journey along the path.

This is such a great book, with a good glimpse not only into feudal Japan but into the life and training of those who fought for it.Samurai and Ninja though opposite were still just the flip sides of the same coin and Chris does well to bring all this out. His description of the techniques and weapons come from one who has trained in these disciplines and add to the uniqueness of this series.

Once again I think the story line is great and lessons taught important. It is refreshing to see stories such as these and Flanagan's Rangers Apprentice and Brotherband series in a time when most everything is vampires& werewolves, or Zombies. Chris does a fine job and I look forward to following Jack on his journey.

Ninja... Samurai.... nothing is black and white!

I am huge Jack Fletcher fan, and this book is one of my favorites of the series. Jack finds himself captured, and thus begins to question everything he has learned thus far, and learns many new skills that will help him on his way back home to his sister. Great book!
