FIVE STARS (Reviewed by Lynn F. for Readers Favorite)"An excellent series that should be in every child's home library. Not only do they learn about the Bible and the characters but they go along on an adventure as well." "Nowthere are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to bewritten, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that wouldbe written." - John 21:25 Preach it, John! My esteemed fellow author indeedknows what he's talking about. Trust me, I couldn't even fully write about allof the things Jesus did that were written down. I know how overwhelmed John and this three colleagues (Matthew,Mark and Luke) must have felt in trying to capture everything Jesus did. I haveto admit it was a bit overwhelming as I began the process of tackling a book onthe life of THE central figure in all of history: Jesus Christ. I haven'tcovered every single scene of Jesus' ministry. I've hit the highlights, majorscenes and crucial things to know about the road leading to the cross. But whenit comes to the Passion, every word is there. As Michael P. Monaco explained, God spoke to me atone of his concerts in Williamsburg, and the plot line of writing the story ofJesus within the story of Handel writing Messiah fell into my heart and mind. God spoke to me on another pivotal night:Christmas Eve 2011. I was sitting in the Church of the Apostles in Atlanta, GAwhen he said, "You need to get to London and sit in Handel's composing room andwrite." I replied, "Seriously, God?" To which he replied, "SERIOUSLY."So on March 5, 2012, I sat in the very room whereHandel wrote Messiah and wrote thescene of him writing it. I cannot begin to tell you how surreal that was, and Ipray that the inspiration I experienced will strike a chord in your heart thatyou've never heard before!Hallelujah and Happy Reading! From the Inside Flap A Word about the MESSIAHSeveral years ago while researching for The Voice, the Revolution, and the Jewel, Jenny L. Cote attended one of my concerts at Colonial Williamsburg. Whilelistening to my narration about George F. Handel and Maurice Greene, the HolySpirit intervened and planted the seed for TheRoman, the Twelve and the King. Eventually, a certain mouse named Nigel P. Monaco, hmmm, came upon the scene as well. Jenny's passion for the Lord and for History becomesquite evident in this book, which I know will appeal to both young and old. With her usual tenacious research, Jenny has managed to present Handel's greatchoral masterpiece Messiah with a newand unique treatment, and I personally think it will open the door for many aperson to listen to the great masterwork who may never have done so. Jenny isthe Lord's scribe, and despite all the excitement and adventure you willexperience with your familiar character friends, the Word of the Lord resonatesthroughout the book.xa0 I am grateful to have been a part of this project, and I am proud to recommend The Roman, the Twelve, and the King. Michael P.MonacoWilliamsburg, Virginia Time-Travel Thrills, Dangerous Intrigue, Heartache and Humor, Exquisite Grace and Love, and Mind-Blowing Truth It's 1735 London and composer George F. Handel ispassed over by the King of England for the most important musical post in the world;little does he know that God has a far greater assignment-- he is to compose themost important piece of music of all time: Messiah. The Order of the Seven were with Isaiah when he wrote the words, now they willbe with Handel as he sets those words to music. Nigel is given the seeminglyimpossible task of playing a mouse-sized violin in Handel's ear every night toinspire the music of Messiah. Butbefore a single note is played, the team must go back and revisit their timewith Jesus. The animals enter the life of Jesus on the day hefirst learns that he is Messiah, and are given the joy of interacting withJesus who knows who they really are. Working behind the scenes from Jesus'childhood to adulthood, the team follows Jesus and his twelve disciples throughthe joy and controversy of Jesus' ministry leading up to the painful purpose ofhis coming: the Passion. The Enemy tried to prevent Messiah's birth - now he willstop at nothing to ensure his death through the Pharisees, Judas, Herod, andPilate. But everything becomes clear as to why the Cross is the Divine Plan allalong. The powerful saga of the Roman family of Antonius continues as CenturionArmandas encounters Jesus across the years, playing a pivotal role in theevents of the greatest story ever told. Before re-entering time in 1741, the animals mustretrieve three items to bring back for Nigel to accomplish his assignment. Theclimactic ending leads up to the London premiere of Messiah. Filled with riotoushumor, tender moments, intense action, deep spiritual truths, and mind-blowingtwists in the folds of history, you will never view the life of Messiah thesame way again. Award-winning author and speaker Jenny L. Cote, who developed an early passion for God, history, and young people, beautifully blends these three passions in her two fantasy fiction series, The Amazing Tales of Max and Liz® and Epic Order of the Seven®. Likened to C. S. Lewis by readers and book reviewers alike, she speaks on creative writing to schools, universities and conferences around the world.xa0 Jenny has a passion for making history fun for kids of all ages, instilling in them a desire to discover their part in HIStory. Her love for research has taken her to most Revolutionary sites in the U.S., to London (with unprecedented access to Handel House Museum to write in Handel's composing room), Oxford (to stay in the home of C. S. Lewis, 'the Kilns', and interview Lewis' secretary, Walter Hooper at the Inklings' famed The Eagle and Child Pub), Paris, Normandy, Rome, Israel, and Egypt. Another Epic Read!

In the The Roman, the Twelve, and the King, the second book in the Epic Order of the Seven series, Jenny Cote brings you back to almost 2,000 years ago. Max, Kate, Liz, Al, and Nigel are sent on a mission to help G. F. Handel with his masterpiece, the Messiah. To get inspired for the upcoming music the team, along with their new teammate, are sent back into the time when Jesus lived among us. Watching as he feeds thousands, heals the blind, lame, and many other miracles, the team is excited as they see the Messiah come and share about God's love after centuries of waiting to see the many prophecies be fulfilled.

It is definitely an EPIC read, and as Nigel would say, "It just takes the biscuit!"

The Roman, the Twelve, and the King is really an amazing book, as you feel like you're right there as Jesus teaches and heals thousands, along with His trusty animals.
Jenny Cote has done an awesome job with this book, probably the best one she's written so far. The characters in her book are funny, smart, and would be awesome pals to have around. :) Each member on the Epic Order of the Seven has a personality that makes you fall in love with them, and as some of them learn to face their fears, and to trust Jesus through it all, you get to "see" the most important time in history, the life of Jesus.
The Roman, the Twelve, and the King is definitely a must read.

Adults & Kids...WONDERFUL read! Great for Homeschool Read Alouds

My children and I have been reading all of Jenny's books. First was "The Ark, The Reed, & The Fire Cloud", then "The Dreamer, The Schemer, and The Robe", next "The Prophet, The Shepherd, and The Star" and finally "The Roman, The Twelve, and The King".
We LOVE all her books. They hold my children's attention and Mine. We use this as read alouds for our homeschool. Which also brings us together for some quality family time. My children love this so, they are re-reading the books beginning with the first in the series. Can not wait till 2013 for "The Way, The Road, The Fall". "Mon Ami", give them a try!

The Bible Brought To Life

These are wonderful books. The Author brings to Bible stories to life. She fills in blanks with her imagination of what could have happened while not misleading you or misquoting any of the Bible. It says that these are children's books, but I'm almost seventy years young and couldn't put it down.

Walk Along with Jesus and His Disciples

Breathtaking, heartfelt, gut-wrenching, joy-filled...simply amazing!! I don't really know how best to sum up this book, other than telling you to read it for yourself and find the life-changing story of God's grace on display in a very personal and relatable way! I felt like I was one of Jesus's disciples in this book, walking along side Him, hanging on His very words and watching Him do amazing miracles. The sorrow of betrayal and ultimately crucifixion, was painful to read, but rightly so as we realize all Jesus went through for US! Such a powerful presentation of the Gospel!! And the added bonus of bringing history to life in the story of Handel's Messiah, something I did not previously have knowledge of, but will now look at in a new light. It is absolutely amazing how Jenny interwove these stories! When I was reading Jenny's very first story, about Max and Liz and Noah, I was also following her on Facebook and she made a post about the show, The Chosen. I had not watched it yet, but her reccomendation stuck in my mind and a little while after that I sat down and watched all of season 1 and 2 and was blown away!! Why do I bring that up in this review? Because the entire time I was reading about the ministry of Jesus in this book, it brought to me the same thoughts and feelings as watching that show did! That being around Jesus then and now is the Best thing ever and helping my love for Him grow more deeply by connecting me with understanding and relatable and intimate moments from His time on earth. It is fascinating and precious to have thoughts of Him and the desire to be with Him be in the forefront of your mind, and this is exactly what happens when you immerse yourself in this story! This review is from a 36-year-old mom, who can't get enough of Jenny's writing and an 11-year-old son who agrees and it gives us so much to talk about and we learn a lot together! So this is my way to say thank you to Jenny for writing these amazing stories and even for giving me the nudge needed to watch the Chosen! All has impacted my life and family in many wonderful ways that are so needed right now! Thank you, Jenny, for sticking up for truth and wisdom and never settling for less than God's best in your writing! Off to start book 4! :)

Read this for Easter!

We finished this book leading up to Easter and it was amazing! It really brings the Passion week to life and helped us explain the Bible events to our young children (ages 9,8,6). Excellent book, like the rest of the series. Max, Liz, Kate, Al, Nigel, Clairie and Gillamon have become members of our family-you hardly remember they’re animals! Love this book series and will be sad when it’s over!!
