Book is Interesting, but Website is Dangerous

Interesting book, but I could not take the Survivor Profiler test on line. His website is loaded with "crapware" as my computer advisor explained to me. I tried to log on from three different browsers. All warned me that there was dangerous maleware associated with this website. Not sure I could recommend this book to anyone.

Quiz Not Available

I wanted to take the quiz which is described in the free preview, so I bought the book but the quiz is not available online anymore. I feel ripped off.

The Survivors Club

Although this book was well touted as a 'must' addition to my reading, I personally felt that reading this book was a waste of my time. It repeated circumstances of survival that were vaguely familiar usually found in the press and other materials that dealt with the characteristics of certain survivors. I did not learn anything new from reading this book and that's why it was a waste of time. I would not recommend it. G Hiebert

Too Prickly and Pissed Off to Die

Frankly speaking as a survivor of three Near Death Experiences (NDE), I read this book after the 1st one, and following what I had learned from this book, saved myself a bunch of unnecessary grief on the last two, at shortening the time of my having to experience them. This book and Al Siebert's books are also strongly recommended on this subject. Can't say enough how important this book is, it actually helped me to accept myself as I really am under the facade of my outer personality, look at a Big 5 Personality test / Meyer's Brigg's test for your regular personality.

My "Survivor Personality" test Results: Fighter. I actually had initial issues with this set of test results, so I ended up taking the test 2 more times before I realized that it wasn't going to change the results. My issue was that my programming as a "Christian" - made me a bit of a softy with my immediate family and some of my friends, i.e. always be nice to others even when they are violating rules of appropriate conduct and over-reaching into your life, i.e. "turn the other cheek" kind of thing, but they won't stop unless you tell them to take a hike, "the hard way". They will have their opinion of you, but who cares, it's your life right? No more Mr Nice Guy, that guy died by the time of the 2nd NDE.

When it comes to dying, or actually not dying in this case, get right with who you are at your survivor core, and then start leveraging some of your natural talents and strengths, this stuff works. Live and Learn, or Get Busy Living or Get Busy Dying......your choice.

Paramedic thoughts...

I have read so many survival books and none compare to this one. Most others read like an instruction manual with a very short opening chapter on positive attitude. Survivor Club however takes more of a scientific approach to survival. All the quizzes and experiments throughout make it personal. You learn a great deal about yourself. I am a paramedic and we are trained to remain calm and aware in any situation. However I showed this book to my colleagues and was surprised at how unaware even we can be at times. It also gave me great insight into human nature. It is nice to have an idea how the general public will react to emergencies and survival situations. I recommend this book to anyone who has a passion for survival. You will not be disappointed.

Basically a complete waste of money and a fraud

DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK! The book has a 2009 copyright. It promises to have a survivor profiler that you can take, but the links no longer work and I could not find anything about this online. Basically a complete waste of money and a fraud. If the profiler is no longer active, then they should either remove the book from the market, or publish a reprint without the profiler. The problem is, the profiler is pretty much the premise of the entire book. The first few chapters were interesting, but then the author pretty much just repeats himself for the rest of the book. I wish I would have known the profiler didn't work. I would have never read this book. Without the profiler, it's not a good read at all.

Couldn't Survive This Book

Only in exceptionally rare instances do I not finish a book, and this book was one of them. The Introduction prepared me for a book that would prepare me for extraordinary, but statistically meaningful, survival encounters. Instead it is an unengaging, meandering treatice of meaningless/irrevelant survival stories. The closest information this book provided was how to better prepare yourself to survive an airplane accident, of which you have a 1 out of 60 million chance of encountering. Not very relevant and there's precious little "science" presented that could save your life (per the book's title).

Not as good as I thought it would be

The review by "A Customer" pretty much sums up this book to a T: Stay calm and hope you are lucky.
Hearing about this book on Glenn Beck's show, I was expecting it to be better. The stories about the things people survived is pretty interesting, but the airplane crash survival stories got old real quick.
I was interested in taking that online quiz the author mentions, but once I found out I'd have to get a password through my e mail and log in it just seemed like too much trouble.

Where is the “pandemic” in the pandemic edition???

I loved this book - very informative and fascinating. I purchased both the hard copy and the Kindle version because the “pandemic edition” is only available on Kindle, yet there is NO portion that speaks about the pandemic at all- what am I missing??? Also the survivors quiz that is mentioned through out ( and the survivors club website) no longer exists which is really disappointing ....

Too Much Religion

This book had promise, and has some interesting stories and statistics. But by half way through, every survival story was turning into mystical powers, and God, and Faith. In these stories, it is never questioned why God saved a military pilot, but let the navigator die. Why did God save a particular person in an airline crash or nightclub fire, but he couldn't be bothered to save the rest (let alone prevent the disaster in the first place)? I guess they were evil, or it was "His Plan". Yawn.

If you don't mind being preached at, or if your faith is so flimsy that it needs to be bolstered by a mass marketed book, then this is a good read. If you are sick of these stories, don't bother.
