Features & Highlights
“An author to watch.” ―The Associated Press
A high-profile murder becomes a life-and-death story for this reporter.
Disgraced crime reporter Aloa Snow is scrambling to get her life back on track by doing what she does best: investigating hard-to-solve cases. But the latest one is personal. The son of her friend Tick―aging anarchist, confidant, and unofficial colleague―has been accused of a high-profile murder. The victim is Corrine Daniels, ex-prosecutor and wife of a heroic but now-paralyzed FBI interrogator. Corrine had enemies, but she also had a secret lover in Tick’s son, who, without an alibi, is now directly in the cops’ crosshairs.
Luckily, Aloa’s got a lock on others who may have had a reason for murder―reasons that plunge her into a world of vigilante justice and a horrific, decades-old crime. It’s only when Aloa’s investigation turns threatening that she realizes she’s closing in on the killer faster than she imagined.
Now that she’s being pushed toward the edge, Aloa fears that there’s nowhere to go but down.

On Edge
Peggy Townsend’s second Aloa Snow mystery, the Thin Edge, begins with the chill of a murder in a thick San Francisco fog. With a shiver, I pulled the blanket over my shoulder, and felt Aloa’s unease – who would murder the wife of a paraplegic ex-FBI hero? The spunky journalist follows clues down a twisted path, uncovering the human dualities of evil and goodness, showing us that life is often as gray as the fog. Hallucinogenic visits from her dead father find her at the cliff’s edge. Townsend’s writing left me on edge, turning pages, until the fog lifted to reveal that nothing is as it seems.

Suspenseful !!!
"The Thin Edge" is more than just another engaging mystery: it's an exploration of what makes people tick, and how our life experiences can, and do, alter any original plans we might have had. As one reads, Several mysteries intersect , each of them intriguing. The twists and turns are plentiful and there is no way this reviewer will spoil your enjoyment of trying to put all the pieces together. But as you do, you'll be as interested in not just what happens , but why. The why is the propelling force behind the plot for, after all, it's people who determine what happens next since one can ever really know what makes people do what they do.... ~

Brilliantly paced
I enjoyed The Thin Edge even more than the first Aloa Snow book. It heightened some of the things I liked most about the first book--the complexity, competence, and badassery of Aloa; spending time with the quirky Justus/ Brain Farm communities; and being immersed in the San Francisco setting. I especially appreciated the moodiness and pacing of this book--a wonderful read!

Team Aloa!
I LOVE Aloa Snow! After reading the first 2 books in this series, I am absolutely devoted to her and cannot wait for more!
I truly enjoyed reading this book, and read it right on the heels of "See her Run", the first in the series. I find Aloa to be very likeable, and the suspense level is perfect. There were lots of different things going on in this one, but I found that they came together very well in the end. As for the romance angles - I cannot wait to see who (if anyone) she ends up with. Loved it!

i found a new author for my favorite's list
A good book takes the reader into the story, giving the characters enough backstory that they come to life. Peggy Townsend has written a good book. The cover and the jacket description are enough to pique a reader's interest, but the characters make this book. As I read, I got lost in the story and refused to quit until the end. It's rare to find an author that you know will make your reading time worth while. I just found another.

The Thin Edge Indeed!
The Thin Edge is Peggy Townsend’s wonderful second novel in which she continues to develop the central character of Aloa Snow, a gritty, determined and insightful journalist who Townsend introduced in her debut novel See Her Run. Snow is able to apply her investigative journalist skills to help solve crime and bring justice, while working through her own personal flaws and issues. In The Thin Edge Townsend creates characters that come to life and a story line that keeps the reader turning pages to find out how the mystery will end and what twists of plot lay ahead. Townsend sets her novel in San Francisco, and beautifully describes the contours and nitches of the City, while also treating the reader to many facets of the City’s history and the effects of fog on the City’s urban-scape and its denizens. She also uses her story to cast a keen and empathetic eye on the City’s homeless. This is so much more than a murder-mystery, but the mystery itself is gripping, with plenty of plot twists and turns, and a satisfying — if unexpected — ending. Enjoy. And lets hope that we get to see Aloa in another novel soon.
