I hate to give this only 3 stars

My main concern was the "angry voice" of the book. I felt as though I was being yelled at with every sentence.

I absolutely agree that the Jewish people have every right to be incensed to their eternal souls about Hitler's actions. I agree with the factuality and the premise of the book. I agree with the author's anger. I agree it should never be forgotten. There is nothing I don't agree with in the book. I have read scores of book about the Holocaust from historians and survivors. I have wept openly while reading of these atrocities. I have seen newsreels , actual footage, photos, etc.

I just felt I was being yelled at. So, if you can get past the yelling, the book is excellent and would deserve 5 stars.

Informative Read

The mechanism of manipulation authored by Hitler applied by his demented functionaries to annihilate Jews, Gypsies, all non-arians and humananity that stood in the way of a twisted ideology is revealed by Ms. Dawidowicz. The four stars rather than five represents the lack of a glossary.

mechanisms of endurance

War against the Jews of author Lucy Dawidowicz shows the history of the Jews and overlooks deeper into their intermittent assaults throughout history. She divides her work into two major parts. In the first part, “The Final Solution” she recounts the whole picture of the evolution of the ideology of mass destruction and how naïve the Jews were (as well as many Germans) at the time, not accepting the reality of such machination of crime. At the beginning, it was hard for people to understand the Nazi “final solution” portraying their goal of Jewish extermination. It took them a while to recognize the extent of the Nazi condemnation.
In the second part of the book “The Holocaust” she narrates in detail the Jewish organization when faced with persecution, imprisonment, starvation and murder and the Jewish response during extreme crisis of survival. She reflects on the role of the leaders as well as their mechanisms of endurance. She includes many first hand victims’ testimonies and shows a comprehensive socio-political perspective on European anti-Semitism.
