Description

" Time Next does an excellent job of holding a mirror up to aspects of our own society . . . In this middle book, Cohagan reveals the layers of Mina's new world with skill, letting the audience delve deeper into her complex life. This series is sure to spark discussion and, hopefully, self-reflection."xa0-ForeWord Reviews *5 Stars*" Time Next grapples with the eerily relevant themes of groupthink and political identity, while managing the rare feat of accurately representing teenage conversation. Especially given the current conversation surrounding institutional misogyny, Time Next is a must-read for any resistance-minded young adult."xa0-Emily Lindin, Teen Vogue columnist xa0xa0"This novel takes very real forces of injustice and takes them to a terrifying level. It makes us question all aspects of religion and identity . . . For many kids in America and elsewhere, this world hardly feels like fiction, and that's why Cohagan's themes are well-timed and necessary."xa0- NY Daily News " Time Next has it all -- excitement, suspense, adventure, futuristic imagination, a fascinating cast of characters, a swiftly paced story, thought provoking themes, and uniformly superb writing. Young adult readers will be as spellbound as I was."- Tim O'Brien, National Book Award winning author of The Things They Carried Carolyn Cohagan began her writing career on the stage. She has performed stand-up and one-woman shows at festivals around the world from Adelaide to Edinburgh. Her first novel, The Lost Children, became part of the Scholastic Book Club in 2011 and was nominated for a 2014 Massachusetts Children's Book Award. Features & Highlights

  • Mina's adventure continues in this sequel to the award-winning Time Zero. In book one, Mina and her friends narrowly escaped fundamentalist-ruled Manhattan. Now, they've been taken in by the Unbound, a modern community that wants to shelter and care for them. Mina, however, becomes increasingly nervous as she and her friends are forced apart, and she's asked to alter her clothing, behavior, and even her faith. As she struggles to hold onto her identity, she also grapples with her secrets, even as the Unbound endeavor to discover each and every one.

Time Next picks up where Time Zero left off and throws Mina and her friends into a new place with a totally different lifestyle. I love the fish out of water element of placing Mina into a world she doesn't understand, where people speak and behave in a way that is very foreign to her. But eventually Mina learns that although different on the surface, this place she was hoping would be a refuge from Manhattan is basically the other side of the same coin. With these two books, Cohagan has done a masterful job creating two very different and distinct societies, revealing both obvious and subtle forms of repression. She has a unique voice and her books are entertaining and thought-provoking. Can't wait for book 3!

Excellent read. Carry on

So Mina gets to see the world from another perspective, a world with more of a Christian slant. But, alas, this world is similar to her old world. The more the women are protected, the more they are subjugated. I can hardly wait to see how Mina's dilemma will be resolved. Found that the intensity of story is still high.
Excellent read. Carry on.

As a personal student of Carolyn, I got to be a beta-reader. I loved the first book and the wonderfully written twists and turns in this book were even more of a surprise to me! I never expected to find a similar world beyond her own. It was incredible and deserves five stars for all her effort and wonderful style!
