Features & Highlights

  • THE EVENTS OF EARTH'S PAST MAY HOLD THE KEY TO EARTH'S SALVATION IN THE FUTURE
  • Marty Cohen was a gifted linguist and student of ancient military strategy who stepped away from academic Egyptology and opened a woodworking shop. Away from the bitter politics and petty rivalries, he's happy to take care of his people, play the occasional war game, and try to make a good life.Mysterious visions rob him of sleep, and then he gets summoned back to Egypt: an off-the-grid dig funded by an eccentric financier has discovered texts that may be the earliest Egypt has produced, and they'll pay Marty silly amounts of cash just to fly out and take one little look.Marty turned his back on the academia game, but he's a small business owner who has to make payroll, and he can't say no to the money. But the texts open doors to more visions and to an astonishing journey: the ragtag team of archaeologists finds itself in protohistoric North Africa, a drying land dominated by horrors, where humanity is badly in need of champions. And behind the war against the fearsome overlords lies a greater struggle: Marty and his team have been chosen to be champions of all Earth and to run a gauntlet on humanity's behalf.Failure will mean extinction. At the publisher's request, this title is sold without DRM (Digital Rights Management).
  • Praise for Time Trials:
  • "Here's a book you really might like.
  • Time Trials
  • is a deadly adventure in which a band of modern humans get taken back in time to Earth's pre-history--and they find that humanity is herded and hunted by alien monsters, who look like the gods of Ancient Egypt. Time Trials has wonder and action in equal measure, with humor and even a little romance on the side. The characters are so charming and diverse, I wish I knew them in real life. For you gamers, there's a fun little bonus too, because there are fantasy gaming elements woven subtly into the story. Take a look at Time Trials--you might find it's a new favorite."

  • Time Trials
  • takes an eclectic band of 21st century adventurers — led by brilliant, unorthodox Chinese-Jewish Egyptologist Marty Cohen — back in time to the earliest pre-history of Egypt to battle demons, hobnob with the ancient king who first united Egypt, and discover things about themselves they never knew. Oh, and along the way, prevent the total extermination of the human race. It's a nonstop action story that mingles strains of Indiana Jones and Stargate in a blend that's all its own."

Another top notch read.

I just finished the first volume in what appears to be the beginning of a great new series. The action starts early, grabs you and doesn't let go. The characters are engaging, well written and developed and I look forward to learning more about them in future volumes. It's not necessary but I'd recommend getting the short work "Rise of the Administrator" for a foundation to the series. If you're a fan of Egyptian history you'll really enjoy this volume, but so will science fiction, adventure and fantasy fans.
I've read most of what Mr Rothman has written, and with this book he continues to impress. This is the first work of Mr Butler's I've read, but will be checking his work out soon.

Indiana Jones, Egyptian Mythology and Time Travel!

I enjoyed how the authors mixed mythology and science in a fun tale! I loved how Egyptian mythology was woven into the novel in such a believable way. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
