Not suitable for littles (scarier than helpful)

Illustrations were good but the story was really not all that great for a young child. I got it for my 2.5 year old and he left the book with more fears than he began. The resolution of the story doesn’t inspire self reliance to quell fears in the little’s brain. Returning this book.

Son is now scared of the dark

My 5 y.o son did not respond well to this book and is now scared of the "grumbles" which were the scary creatures introduced within the book. I'd recommend to stay clear as there are better options out there.

Now scared of the dark, wasn’t previously

It was enough to make my son begin to consider being afraid of the dark. Perhaps if your child is scared of the dark it would help, but otherwise it just puts ideas in their heads.

Fun illustrations with a cute story.

Little kids, under 5 or 6, will love and enjoy this book, especially if they love dinosaurs. I absolutely love Jay Flecks illustrations. He has a whimsical and unique style in his illustrations. The story will engage kids who are afraid of the dark and uses silly words to make it humorous. There is a cute ending, but not much substance in any lesson that is taught.

All around adorable!

I preordered so long ago I had honestly forgot about this book. It arrived today and was such a great surprise! The illustrations are adorable and so is the story. I’m excited to have this one in my son’s library. Ages 3-5, as recommended, seems like the perfect age range. It’s long enough to require an attention span but not too long to be enjoyable and completed in one sitting. (Also a good length for the inevitable “again, again!)

Not for toddlers

Cute idea for a story. However, not a good book for younger kids. The monsters and creepy eyes only make the book scary.

Makes it more scary

My kid wasn't scared of the dark but this book is going to give her nightmares. We've previously camped multiple times with no issues but this book put scary images in her head that were not there before! Do no recommend.

Precious!

This second installment was absolutely adorable. My two year old LOVES dinosaurs and he loved his first Tiny T Rex book. This one didn’t disappoint. He understood the being afraid of the dark lesson right from the first read.

Tiny and pointy are too cute. I hope someday soon there’s merchandise. He’d love a tiny stuffed toy.

Update: my son still talks about the very dark dark. We even went camping over the summer and he talked about looking for the lights in the sky like Tiny. We love this series!

Cute, humorous, and maybe not so dark, dark

Even monsters can be afraid of the dark dark, and tiny T Rex brings the message across the the sweetest way.

Camping outside is tons of fun...if there were nighty-lights outside. With his friend's help, T. Rex plans the best means to keep scary Grumbles and Nom-bies away. Even with the best constructions and ideas, the dark dark doesn't disappear. So, T Rex has to come up with another solution.

T. Rex is a sweet little rex. It's impossible not to like him as he prances around in his pajamas and tries to be brave when faced with something most kids don't care for—the dark dark. The support of his friend is inspiring and warming as the two of them try to come up with ideas. The entire situation will be easy for listeners to identify with, and they'll be able to put themselves into T. Rex's shoes and feel for him.

The illustrations are simple but carry the needed impact. T. Rex's predicament and the emotions surrounding it come across loud and clear. And yet, there's a tiny bit of humor and lightness built in, to ensure a few smiles along the way. It's hard not to like T. Rex as he drags his 'squish' around with him and is determined to overcome his fear to enjoy the fun of camping outside.

Summed up, this is a sweet book which attacks a fear many young listeners face themselves. It demonstrates that through friendship, determination and remembering a loving parent's wise words, the dark dark isn't hard to defeat after all.

I received an ARC and found this a great way to tackle the fear of the dark. (And T. Rex is super adorable!). So, I'm leaving my honest thoughts.
