Description

"Archer captures the voices and vulnerabilities of her characters with precision." - Publisher's Weekly "Archer writes distinctive characters..." - Kirkus Reviews "...a poignant novel that explores the issues and emotions associated with family, adoption, and love. I found this book to be quite a page-turner, and I did not want to put it down. Archer has a talent for developing interesting, "real" characters, and I was fully engrossed in this novel, which is nicely peppered with humorous anecdotes that add a light-hearted note to the serious topics. I highly recommend this book to fans of women's fiction."- Curled Up With A Good Book (Review of What I Left Behind under its previous title.)"...a warm, witty and poignant exploration of some of the most realistically complex, and appealing, characters I've encountered in a long time. Jennifer Archer's prose is lovely without a hint of pretension, never getting in the way of Allyson's narration of her own story. Characters are vulnerable, screwed up and courageous all at the same time, and I loved them for it. Fans of both women's fiction and romance will find a lot to make them happy here." - Karen Templeton, Author of the Wed In The West Series. (Review of What I Left Behind under its previous title.)"I predicted stardom for Jennifer Archer after reading her first book, and I haven't changed my mind. Every emotion rang true, and even though the novel is told only through the eyes of Ally, the main character, Archer does such a masterful job of showing the emotions of the other characters, you don't realize you're not inside their heads, because you absolutely know what they're thinking and feeling. Highly recommended." - Patricia Kay, USA Today Bestselling Author. (Review of What I Left Behind under its previous title.)"...a poignant tale of one woman's road to self-discovery. What she learns along the way is so touchingly emotional you can't put the book down." - Candace Havens, Bestselling Author of the Ainsley McGregor Series. (Review of What I Left Behind under its previous title.) Publisher's Weekly called Jennifer Archer a writer who "captures the voices and vulnerabilities of her characters with precision." Boring!

Simplistic, predictable story with one dimensional characters. Poor writing and plot development. The story was so obvious , I’m not sure why I bothered to finish it. Don’t waste your time or money.

Lifetime Movie Book

This book only took a few hours to read. The writing is easy and fluid. The story is interesting without being weighted down by intense mystery. While I liked the characters, I was disappointed in how flatly they were all described, making it hard to picture them and relate to them. I feel the story could have benefited from a little more description overall, but a heartfelt story nonetheless. I enjoyed the bookends of journal entries to open and close the story. If you're looking for the Lifetime Movie Netwook in book form, this will be perfect for you.

Must Read

This book hooked me in the first chapter. I had to keep reading to find out what was going to happen to Allycin and her grandson, as well as Warren her fiance. So many twists and turns and a very satisfying ending. I loved the description of traveling down the coast of California because I have done that too. It is truly a beautiful journey. This book was a journey of finding two lost loves and finding new ones. I read it in one afternoon/evening. Grab your favorite beverage, curl up in your favorite reading spot and enjoy a well written adventure.

Well written and emotional

I loved this book. It had me in tears throughout. Mostly by how well it is written. Also a little because I related to some parts. I was a teenager mother and chose to raise my son alone after his father left the picture early on, then later died. It amazed me how the author seemed to truly understand and articulate the emotions and consequences of the characters so well.

Brilliant

I loved this book. You could feel Ally’s pain when Sonny shows up. All through the book the characters, Ally, Nick and Sonny were well written. They grow. And the back story flowed well.
Jennifer Archer is an amazing author. It was so realistic. A wonderful read. Waiting for more.

Packed full of emotions

A young man shows up at Ally’s door, saying he’s her grandson. This brings back many feelings, pain, loss, love. Now she must face her past and try to figure out her future.
This was a quick, emotion filled read. I enjoyed every minute of this book. The emotions were written so that I could feel every one. My first read from this author, but will not be my last.
