"We both know where this is going."Taryn Crawford glanced up at the man standing by her table and ignored the rush of anticipation when she saw who he was. He was tall, with broad shoulders and gray eyes. But the most compelling feature-the one she would guess people pretended didn't exist-was the scar on his neck. As if someone had once tried to slit his throat. Taryn idly wondered what had happened to the person who failed. She supposed there were plenty of women who would be intimidated by the man in front of her. The sheer volume of muscle he had might make someone apprehensive. Not her, of course. When in doubt she put on a power suit and killer heels. If those failed her, she would simply work harder than anyone else. Whatever it took to win. Sure, there was a price, but she was okay with that.Which was why she was able to stare coolly back and ask, "Do we?"One corner of his mouth curved slightly in a sort of half smile. "Sure, but if you're more comfortable pretending we don't, I can make that work, too.""A challenge. Intriguing. You don't expect that to be enough to make me defensive so I start saying more than I had planned, do you?" She made sure she was plenty relaxed in her chair. She would guess the man was paying as much attention to her body language as her words. Maybe more. She hoped he wouldn't make things easy. She was tired of easy."I would hate for you to be disappointed," she murmured. The smile turned genuine. "I'd hate that, too." He pulled out the chair opposite hers. "May I?" She nodded. He sat.It was barely after ten on a Tuesday morning. Brew-haha, the local coffee place she'd escaped to for a few minutes of solitude before she returned to the current chaos at her office, was relatively quiet. She'd ordered a latte and had pulled out her tablet to catch up on the latest financial news. Until she'd been interrupted. Nice to know this was going to be a good day.She studied the man across from her. He was older than the boys, she thought. The three men she worked with-Jack, Sam and Kenny, aka "the boys"-were all in their early to mid-thirties. Her guest was nearer to forty. Just old enough to have the experience to make things intriguing, she thought."We've never been introduced," she said."You know who I am."A statement, not a question. "Do I?"One dark eyebrow rose. "Angel Whittaker. I work at CDS."Otherwise known as the bodyguard school, she reminded herself. For a small town, Fool's Gold had its share of unusual businesses. "Taryn Crawford."She waited, but he didn't make a move."We're not shaking hands?" she asked, then picked up her latte with both hers. Just to be difficult, because being difficult would make things more fun."I figured we'd save the touching for later. I find it's better when that sort of thing happens in private."Taryn had opened Score, her PR firm, eight years ago. She'd had to deal with unwelcome passes, assumptions she was an idiot, being asked who the boss was, pats on her butt and people presuming that if she worked with three ex-football players, she must have gotten her job by sleeping with them. She was used to staying calm, keeping her opinions to herself and gaining victory through the unanticipated side run. This time Angel had been the one to put the first points on the board. He was good, she thought, intrigued and only slightly miffed."Are you coming on to me, Mr. Whittaker? Because it's still a little early in the morning for that sort of thing.""You'll know when I'm making my move," he informed her. "Right now I'm simply telling you how things are.""Which takes us back to your comment that we both know where this is going. I'll admit to being confused. Perhaps you have me mixed up with someone else."She uncrossed, then recrossed her long legs. She wasn't trying to be provocative, but if Angel got distracted, it was hardly her fault. For a second she allowed herself to wonder how she would have been different if she'd been able to grow up in a more traditional home. One with the requisite 2.5 children and somewhat normal parents. She certainly wouldn't be as driven. Or as tough. Sometimes she wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not.He leaned toward her. "I hadn't taken you for the type to play games.""We all play games," she told him."Fair enough. Then I'll be blunt."She sipped her coffee, then swallowed. "Please.""I saw you last fall.""How nice," she murmured. When she'd been scouting locations. Moving a company required time and effort. They'd only truly settled in Fool's Gold a couple of months ago. But she had been in town the previous fall, and yes, she'd seen Angel, as well. Found out who he was and had wondered about…possibilities. Not that she was going to admit that to him."I watched you," he continued."Should I be concerned you're a stalker?""Not when you were watching me right back."He'd noticed? Damn. She'd tried to be subtle. She thought about lying but decided to simply stay silent. After a second, he continued."So we've finished sizing each other up," he said. "Now it's time to move on to the next phase of the game.""There are phases?" Which was an actual question. No point in mentioning the game. She knew what they were doing. Still, it was entertaining to pretend she didn't. "Several.""Do you provide instructions or a scorecard?" His cool gray eyes stayed focused on her face. "You don't play that way.""Be careful with your assumptions.""I'm not assuming."He had an appealing voice. Low with a hint of… Not the Deep South, she thought. But there was a cadence. Virginia? West Virginia? She put down her mug. "If I buy in to your assertion-which I'm not admitting I do.""Of course not."She ignored the words and the amusement tugging at his lips. "Where do you see this going?"He leaned back in his chair. "This is a mating game, Taryn. Or didn't you know?"Ah, his first mistake. She kept her eyes locked with his and didn't let her triumph show. "You want to marry me?"A muscle in his jaw twitched. "Not that kind of mating.""If you're not precise, it's difficult to be sure. So you want to sleep with me.""Yes, but it's about more than that."She let her gaze drift down his chest, then moved to his arms. Despite the cool late-April temperatures, he wore a T-shirt and no jacket. She could see a tattoo of a rose, along with several scars on his arms. His hands were strong and equally battered. She returned her attention to the scar on his neck and decided to ask the obvious. "What happened to the other guy?"He touched the side of his throat, then shrugged. "He had a very bad day."Taryn lived in the world of business. She could talk finance and sales projections, but her real gift was designing public relationship campaigns that were innovative and successful. At Score the work was divided among the four partners. Kenny and Jack were the rainmakers. They found prospective clients and reeled them in. Sam handled the money. But Taryn was the creative engine that steered the ship. She was used to executives, graphic artists, bankers and everything in between. In her sphere, she was a power player and no one crossed her. But Angel was from a different sphere altogether. His clout didn't come from a boardroom or the right suit. He carried it in his body. It was part of who he was.She knew a few odds and ends about him. People she respected and trusted liked him. But the details? They were still a mystery. One she would like to solve."What makes you think I'm the least bit interested?" she asked."You're still here."A good point. She didn't want another executive- he would be too much like her. As for sports heroes, she worked with three and they exhausted her. Angel was different. Right now different sounded like exactly what she needed."Effort will be required," she told him."Ditto."She laughed at the unexpected statement."You didn't think I'd be easy, did you?" he asked."Apparently not."He stood. "Don't worry. I'm good at planning the right op for the right mission and then seeing it through." He crossed to the door, then turned back to her. "And I'm good at waiting."He walked out, leaving her with her rapidly cooling coffee and an article on consumer confidence that had just gotten a whole lot less interesting than her encounter with an intriguing man named Angel.Smug felt good, Angel thought as he crossed the street and headed for City Hall. He'd been waiting for the right moment to talk to Taryn, and when he'd seen her having coffee by herself, he'd decided to act. She was as intriguing as he'd hoped-intelligent, confident and sexy as hell. A combination he would have trouble resisting under the best of circumstances. But in this town, with her always around… He'd wanted to make his move the first day.Waiting had been better, he told himself as he jogged up the stairs to the front of the government building. Now he could put his plan into action. The one that led them down a road of temptation, with an ultimate objective that should satisfy them both.He took more stairs to the second floor and followed the signs to the mayor's office.Mayor Marsha Tilson was California's longest-serving mayor. She served the town well and seemed to know everyone's secrets. Angel had yet to figure out where she got her information, but from what he'd seen, she had a network that would put most governments to shame. He entered her office exactly fifteen seconds before the time of his appointment. Her assistant, an older woman in a black blazer, looked up at him with red and puffy eyes. Angel immediately sensed bubbling emotion and glanced around the room to discover all available exits. The woman, a full-figured brunette, sniffed. "You must be Mr. Whittaker. Go right in. She's expecting you."Angel did as instructed, hoping to find a calmer atmosphere in the mayor's office. His cautious optimism was rewarded. Mayor Marsha looked as she always did-perfectly put together. She wore a light green suit and pearls and had her white hair neatly swirled up in a bun. She smiled and stood when she saw him."Mr. Whittaker. You made it.""Angel, please." He crossed the room and shook hands with her, then settled in the seat across from hers. Her office was large with several windows. Behind her desk were the flags of the United States and the state of California, along with a large seal he would guess represented the city of Fool's Gold."Your assistant's upset," he said."Marjorie's worked with me for years. But her twin daughters have settled in Portland, Oregon. They're both pregnant. Marjorie's husband retired, so they're going to move closer to family. While she's excited about being nearer to her daughters and future grandchildren, she's sad about leaving all of us here."More than he wanted to know, he thought, keeping his expression polite.Mayor Marsha smiled. "Now I'll have to find someone new. Hiring staff is relatively easy, but an assistant is a different matter. There has to be chemistry and trust. One can't let just anyone know the town's secrets." The smile widened. "Not why you came to see me today." She leaned forward and picked up a file from the stack on her large desk."All right, Angel, let's see what we have here." She slipped on reading glasses. "You're interested in a project that will involve you with the community."Angel had been to some of the most dangerous parts of the world in various capacities. He'd taken his sniper training into the private sector and now designed curricula for people training to be professional bodyguards. Not much surprised him. But he would swear he hadn't told anyone his reason for making his appointment with Mayor Marsha, which begged the question: How did the old lady know? She glanced at him over her glasses. "Did I have that correct?"He decided he had little choice but to simply nod and say, "Yes, ma'am."The smile returned. "Good. You have a unique background and an unusual skill set. I've given the matter a lot of thought and I think you'd be a perfect Grove Keeper."Grove what? "Ma'am?""Are you familiar with the history of the town?" she asked, then closed the folder. "This is California, so there was the expected exploration by the Spanish in the 1700s, but long before that, Fool's Gold was settled by the Maa-zib Tribe."Angel had heard something about that. "A branch of Mayans," he murmured. "Matriarchal.""Yes." The smile returned. "I would guess you'd respect a group of women who only want to use a man for sex."Angel wasn't sure if he should flinch or pat the old lady on the back. Instead he cleared his throat. "All right," he said slowly. "Interesting.""It is. We have long celebrated our Maa-zib culture, and that includes a youth group. Future Warriors of the Maa-zib. Young people start with a two-month introduction to what it's like to be in the FWM. That's followed by four years of membership. We have Acorns, Sprouts, Saplings, Sky-Reachers and Mighty Oaks. Each group or troop is known as a grove, and the person in charge is a Grove Keeper."She put down her glasses. "We have a grove in need of a keeper, and I think they need you."Kids, he thought with surprise. He liked kids. His goal had been to get involved with Fool's Gold because he'd decided to stay here and he'd been raised to give back to the community. He'd thought maybe he could volunteer on some advisory committee or teach a continuing ed class-although his skill set didn't exactly fit in the regular world. Still…kids. He hesitated only a second, then realized it had been long enough since he'd lost Marcus. The pain was still there-would always be a part of him, like a scar, or his heart-but it had become manageable. He thought by now he would be able to work with teenaged boys without wanting to argue with the heavens about how unfair it had all been."Sure," he said easily. "I can run a grove."Amusement twinkled in Mayor Marsha's blue eyes. "I'm glad to hear it. I think you'll find the experience fulfilling on several levels. I'll make sure you get your material in the next few days. Then you can meet with the Grove Council."He grinned. "Seriously? There's a Grove Council?"She laughed. "Of course. These are Future Warriors of the Maa-zib. What else would there be?"She rose and he did, as well. "Thank you, Angel. Usually I have to go out and convince new residents to pitch in. I appreciate that you came to me." She studied him. "I assume your interest in giving back is the result of your background. You grew up in a coal mining town, didn't you? West Virginia?"While the information wasn't secret, it wasn't something he shared very often. "You're a spooky woman," he told her. "You know that, right?"The smile broadened. "Not many people have the courage to say it to my face, but I do hope that's what they're saying behind my back." Read more

Softer sides of Angel!

Susan Mallery does it again! I love this story! Angel and Taryn make a great unexpected couple. I loved getting to see the softer side to big tough Angel. Taryn seemed like a snobbish person in the previous Fools Gold novels but she shows different sides to her and I really liked it! You will laugh out loud and maybe shead a few tears too. A must read!

This is a wonderful book that hits on all the traditional romance aspects but does so much more.

Originally posted on Tales to Tide You Over

This is a wonderful book that hits on all the traditional romance aspects but does so much more.

Taryn Crawford is an abuse survivor who hides her past from everyone, even her closest friends. Angel Whittaker is an ex-soldier with a hero complex that won’t let him move past the senseless tragedy of the car accident that killed his wife and son. He was off protecting someone else, and even though he couldn’t have done anything to prevent it, he thinks he should have been there.

With that setup, you’d think it’s an overly serious, downer of a book, but it’s not. They might be haunted by their pasts, but that doesn’t stop them from trying to enjoy the present, and doing a wonderful job if it.

The beginning is fun and witty thanks to the repartee between Angel and Taryn, while a touch of chicklit in Taryn’s focus on elaborate clothing and super shoes (I’m not a clothing/shoe person myself, but I love reading characters who know what makes themselves tick and have the gumption to indulge) keeps things moving. The last also brings up another opportunity for character growth that was lovely.

The story itself is about the two of them healing not just because of their attraction to each other but also through the connections they make in the small town of Fool’s Gold. The friendships are powerful, the community spirit is wonderful, and the sense of participation leaps from the page even when the characters are sort of tricked into their community projects by the wily, but well-meaning, mayor.

Fool’s Gold is enough to make a closed-off city girl stick her neck out to help people and a rough and tough ex-soldier learn crucial skills like how to French braid. The story is a city girl/country boy in some ways, but the interactions are self-aware and asking all the big questions that make the characters feel real.

I loved the way it shows the long-term impact of both abuse and loss not to bog down the story but to counter the trend of demanding sufferers “get over it already” and “don’t wallow” that lead to people burying the pain instead of healing. When We Met doesn’t pull punches it its portrayal, but it also doesn’t make Taryn and Angel frozen in time. They are functional people who hide their pain under a confident facade but avoid situations that might remind them of what happened, or they try to. This is a romance after all, and it forces them to confront their past to recognize the new future they discover in each other.

Being a sensual romance, they come together sexually first, though after a long dance of deliberate self-denial to heighten the tension. This aspect is the only one that felt a little forced to me, not in the writing as much as in the characters. They played at manipulating each other with the other’s full knowledge and involvement, but as a game, it went on a little long for me. Since I read every level, I’ll note when the sex happens it’s detailed in the way of modern contemporary romances but not explicit in the sense of erotica. Definitely sensual not sweet, though.

You might have gotten the impression I really liked this book. If you did, you’d be right. It’s a perfect blend of individuals and their connections with friends, family, and neighbors while flying in the face of the belief that “it couldn’t happen to anyone you know” and addressing serious topics all without bogging down. I’m thinking I’ll take the opportunity to visit Fool’s Gold again when it comes my way.

P.S. I received this title from the publisher through NetGalley in return for an honest review.

When We Met

When We Met: Susan Mallery

Creating your own safety net and protection from harm, unwanted affection or abuse is not always that easy. Growing up Taryn Crawford learned that not all parents cared about their children and some took the easy way out and just left. With a mother who decided to leave her at the hand of an abusive father, Taryn learned early on the meanings of the words, distrust, betrayal and fear. But, one incident would change it all as her deranged father who used her as a punching bag when drunk and frustrated because of his own shortcomings, caused her to do more than just fall off of a ladder and break her arm. The world sees what we often don’t think they do and some keep their thoughts and feelings silent until it is too late. With the help of a kind neighbor and 500 dollars Taryn fled and never looked back. Taking menial jobs just to survive she learned about her father’s suicide from reading a newspaper article. Now, she was truly alone but Free! Working hard, going back to school, living in her car and finally get her degree she forged ahead and met Jack Crawford an NFL football player and their relationship soared if just for a short time. With his help she was able to live, go back to school and eventually earn her degree working for the Football team. But, when things went south and their relationship led to divorce, rather than desert her, Jack invested in their future. Taryn is smart and the brains behind the PR company Score which houses itself in a town called Fool’s Gold. Cool name!

Angel Whittaker is not, new to Fool’s Gold like Taryn and works with Ford Maddox as the senior trainer for his company that provides security services. Both Angel and Taryn have their own secrets. When they meet you can feel the electricity in the air more powerful that a lightning bolt and hotter than the lava of an erupting volcano. Both share the same common goal: No serious relationship. Angel because of the death of his wife and son in a car accident that rocked his world and Taryn because of the abuse she endured at the hand of her father. But, like magnets that attract or polar opposites that cannot resist each other Angel and Taryn play the cat and mouse game better than Tom and Jerry. Angel an ex-sniper and military man whose personality is strong, whose presence makes her shudder and whose demeanor would make any girl melt. Power hungry: Her’s come from wearing her spiked heels and his from the way he presents and carries himself. Both Taryn and Angel wanting a relationship, keeping at a pleasant distance. Score, Taryn’s company is hoping to get an account for a clothing line that caters to hikers, bikers and outdoor lovers. Fearing that she might fail and learning that part of the deal requires that she goes camping with her three-hunky partners and the owner of the clothing company, Angel and Taryn make a pact or an unsigned deal. Angel unknowingly volunteered to mentor 7-year-old girls that have joined the Future Warriors of Maazib. These girls are special and need encouragement. Some from broken homes and others lost parents. With Taryn’s help Angel hopes to succeed knowing very little about girls. HE will teach her about sports and camping and she will help with the girl’s volunteer project that he got roped into by the town’s puzzling mayor: Mayor Marsha. Things heat up, meetings take place and now we meet Larissa whose job everyone would most definitely envy as she is the masseuse for the Football players and she gets to have more than must some fun. Fool’s Gold: the town with the Happy Endings! Why would anyone want to change the slogan? But, Taryn has been enlisted to try. With both main characters dealing with their own baggage, one due to the death of his family and the other from a scarred childhood, can they find a common ground together? No committed relationship, definitely hide your emotions and do not let them show and of course forget about the chemistry or things might turn permanent and that is against the rules. But, sometimes things change and a meeting takes place, Taryn gets to see Angel in action as we watch Consuelo the one who teaches the classes at the bodyguard company take down one of the guys she works with letting readers know that the women created by author Susan Mallery are strong, persistent and can handle it on their own.

Both Taryn and Angel harbor their own fears, as do many of the other characters in this novel. Isabel is going to forge into a new business and expand her wedding side with a retail side with a new manager and Taryn’s check to help get it started. The prime focus becomes the Future Warriors of Maazib and when these 7 year old girls get together, start talking they are non stop and really fun. With Chloe finally starting to talk, her friend Regan enamored with Angel the group finds its way to go camping, learning how to pitch tents and then something would happen that would change it all. Fools Gold may be a town where there are happy endings but sometimes obstacles arise and things change. As Taryn took lessons in outdoor camping, kayaking and more Angel learned to adjust to being a Grove Keeper. But, his guilt for what happened to his wife and son resound loud and clear and just might ruin what he has with Taryn. How do you deal with people who really care when all of your life you felt alone? How will both Taryn and Angel put the past behind and move forward? Can they?

One sentence would change Taryn’s relationship with Angel but not before a flashflood hits the campsite and endangers all of the girls. What happens will surprise readers as Taryn faces the ultimate decision of her life: Whether to trust Angel when in trouble or not! When Regan and Chloe disappear looking for Regan’s Grove Bracelet, Taryn goes after them and what happens next is heart stopping and remind campers that panicking is not good, understanding rescue and emergency measures paramount and the end result is not expected. Three words or one short phrase or sentence changed it all for Taryn and Angel. Will they wind up together? Will they march in the final parade with all of their Acorns? What happens when 7 year olds are smarter than the adults you just won’t believe? When We Met! Angel/Taryn: The story is not over yet there is much more to come!

Meet Sam, Jack, Kenny, and Consuelo and find out more about the members of CDS and what happens when a business prospect says the wrong thing and the guys come to Taryn’s defense. Find out why Consuelo is afraid to marry Kenny and if they ever tie the knot? Find out more about Fool’s Gold and you just might wish that this town really existed and live there. Family is everything and yet Taryn for the first time feels part of a town, have new friends but still hides behind her clothes, shoes and designer bags. But a woman named Bailey would change her perspective and wait until you see the ingenious idea author Susan Mallery comes up with to help solve a fashion problem for Bailey and so many others. An ending that will bring tears to your eyes and a town that is so picture perfect that you will definitely want to visit or live there. Fool’s Gold: More than just a town with happy endings: A town with heart, hope, loyalty, kindness and love. A story about trust, loyalty, friendship, abuse, fear, guilt and most of all love.

When We Met

When We Met by Susan Mallery is the latest book in the Fool's Gold series. As a long time fan of Susan's this book was just ok for me. I felt there were too many characters for character development to really take hold and parts of the book were slow. With that being said, It was an enjoyable book with parts shining with Susan's great story telling but just not one of my top of hers.

Must Read , You will not be disappointed.

****** I have received this ARC for my honest review **********

Story:

This is the 13th book in the Fool's Gold Series. Angel Whittaker is a former Special Ops Agent, now is part owner of a bodyguard company. Taryn Crawford is part owner of a PR firm with three former NFL football players.

Angel's wife and son had died 6 yrs. ago. After losing them , he doesn't want to give his heart to anyone else. Taryn's mother ran off when she was a small girl to get away from her abusive husband. She left her daughter there and Taryn has never forgot that. When she was 16 she ran away to start a new life.

They are now both in Fool's Gold. With each of them now successful, they both want to give back to the community.

My view:

I have read all the previous books from this series. This is a wonderful continuation of the other books. I really have enjoyed the CDS and PR guys. Susan Mallery has many characters within this series. I love how she can get characters that I don't think will work together.

*** Must add to your To Be Read (TBR) list of books, you will not be disappointed ***. I recommend you purchase this book, its something I see myself reading many times.

Angel finally gets his own happy ending!

Angel finally gets his own happy ending ;) I so enjoyed When We Met! Taryn, working with professional athletes all the time is the perfect match to Angel. She’s not afraid to stand up to him, which keeps him on his toes, and makes him have to work for her. And Angel, while he’s a soldier, has the soft side to him that comes through when having to deal with Taryn, and her past, which has shaped her present. Throw in some young girls who help to show both Taryn and Angel the way, and this book was a great start to this summer’s installments of Fool’s Gold.

Welcome Back to Fool's Gold

Once again Mallery writes a Fantastic story full of love and sizzle. Although this story is part of a series, you can read it as a stand alone book. But once you read a Mallery book, you will want to read more. The addition of the former NFL players to the town of Fool's Gold will continue to bring excitement to the gals of town.

Susan Mallery has another hit.

I love visiting old friends and a trip to Fool's Gold is just that. I was touched by angel and Taryn's story.
Angel, a tough bodyguard, with the scars to prove it, and Taryn, a sassy executive PR representative with a penchant for 4 to 6-inch heels and keeping three former NFL players, a.k.a. her partners, in line, have a heart warming story. Both of them had traumatic events in their past which was instrumental in shaping their current lives.
Then Mayor Marsha steps in and has Angel lead a FWM group, which is Fool's Gold equivalent of a Girl Scout Troop, and everything gets very interesting. Angel learns a lot about himself while helping the girls earn their beads. Taryn also learns a lot about Angel while helping him with the FWM group, and how to trust again.
Fool's Gold may be a town short on male population, but the ones that are settling in town are top notch. Can't wait for Sam, Kenny and Jack;s stories. I hope Bailey has a story also.

What I love about Fool's Gold with new twists!

Fool’s Gold will never be the same, thanks to the boys from Score, the newest business to move to the fictional California town created by author Susan Mallery.

Jack, Sam and Kenny are retired pro football players who decide to move their public relations firm, Score, from Los Angeles to Fool’s Gold. The news isn’t welcome to their fourth partner, Taryn, who is the creative director of the firm.

Readers of Mallery’s Fool’s Gold series met Taryn in the 2013 trilogy to set the stage for WHEN WE MET, the first FG title of 2014.

WHEN WE MET is Taryn’s story with her hero, Angel, the fourth partner at CDS, the “bodyguard school” that was the focus of the 2013 books. Angel isn’t looking for love, and Taryn doesn’t believe it exists. As long as they stay on the same page, this hot affair will satisfy them both.

Of course, Fool’s Gold is the Land of Happy Endings where hot affairs turn into deep relationships. Watching Taryn and Angel overcome their pasts and let the town work its magic is a delight to watch.

Fans of the Fool’s Gold series will catch up a bit with some of their favorite characters (Felicia, Isabel, Noelle and Dellina from 2013 along with several of the Hendrixes, Mayor Marsha, Raoul and an appearance by Eddie and Gladys). Also in WHEN WE MET are the familiar elements that define this close-knit town — festivals, casserole brigades and drown-your-sorrows-caused-by-clueless-men nights.

Still, Taryn’s “boys” manage to put their own spin on some of these time-honored traditions. And Mallery has set up the next three stories with clues to love interests for Sam, Kenny and Jack (although not as clear-cut, I’ll be curious to see whether my hunch for Jack is right).

Get a jump on your summer reading season with WHEN WE MET, then look forward to the rest of the 2014 trilogy.
