Features & Highlights

  • A space opera with attitude. And jokes.
  • At 19 years old, Denver is the youngest wrecker in the verse. His only companion, other than his one-eyed cat Pirate, is an AI navigator named Gary based on classic 21st century sitcom personalities.
  • That all changes when Denver meets Batista, a mechanic who claims to know what happened to Denver’s missing father and brother. Following her information, Denver is drawn into trouble with the various forces in the galaxy — bandits, feds and rival wreckers.
  • As complications mount and he’s forced into helping different sides chase the hottest technology in the verse, Denver, once a lone wolf, collects the small crew he never knew he needed. But can he keep them alive?

Great Story

Wreckers: A Denver Boyd Novel
This is a great story. The plot is not predictable, keeps you guessing and it moves quickly with plenty of action. You will not skip pages to see what comes later since there is no place where the book is slow or boring. The universe that is described is believable. Space has been colonized without a faster than light space drive which creates a different kind of universe with different issues than we encounter in many other science fiction stories. The main character is sympathetic and likeable. Although this is the start of a series this is a stand alone novel and has a satisfying conclusion and there is no cliff hanger. I really enjoyed the characters and the story was both realistic and exciting. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

A witty, imaginative sci-fi adventure

Wreckers is a wild ride full of distinctive characters, fast-paced action and well-timed humor. The writing is solid and the inventiveness fresh. In fact, nothing ever feels stale throughout the novel, and the discernible elements of inspiration, from great adventure films to Douglas Adams, add to the fun. I highly recommend checking it out if you're looking for a refreshing take on sci-fi, some good laughs, thoughtfully crafted characters and high-stakes thrills. An all-around great read.

A modern take on 70s sci-fi.

I am obsessed with 70s and 80s sci-fi novels. There's just a certain feel to it that I can't explain. This book has that same feeling but I was delighted by the more modern references and not just the pop culture ones.

Speaking of pop culture references, this book has a lot but they're done well and not shoe horned in obnoxiously like they are in Ready Player One. I couldn't even finish that book because of how obnoxious and self congratulating that book is with it's references.

Anyways, Wreckers is phenomenal and I can't wait for the next book in the series.
