Description

“Absolutely AMAZING. The plot is astonishing—original and ingenious. But it’s much more than that; the love Jen has for her son and her husband is beautiful. The stakes are so high because they’re so meaningful.”xa0 — Marian Keyes, internationally bestselling author “A brilliantly genre-bending, mind-twisting answer to the question How far would you go to save your child?”xa0 — Ruth Ware, #1 New York Times bestselling author “A high-concept mash-up of different genres that transcends its wackadoodle premise with an affecting portrayal of a family careening toward crisis… But the science isn’t the point of this twisty book by a writer with a fine grasp of the subtleties of familial dysfunction. The story becomes unexpectedly tender as Jen moves further back in time, in awe of the youth she let slip by so easily, and shocked by how much she did not know.” — New York Times “Another ingeniously plotted genre-bender… McAllister succeeds in making us care, and the result is a tour de force.”xa0 — The Guardian (UK) "A work of such genius it leaves you in awe. Wrong Place, Wrong Time is impossibly clever, daringly original and heart-rending. Exceptional." — Chris Whitaker, New York Times bestselling author “It’s perfection, every word, every moment. A masterpiece . . . I had my mind blown apart. After I finished it, I sat with my mouth hanging open in awe. One of the best books I’ve ever read.”xa0 — Lisa Jewell on Wrong Place, Wrong Time "McAllister gives readers a chance to solve the crime from a refreshing new perspective while also providing elegant insights into how one creates one’s past and confronts “friendships and addresses and life phases that feel endless but never, never last.” Assured prose more than compensates for the pat ending. This entertaining look at motherhood and memory will resonate with many." — Publishers Weekly “Fiendishly clever and flawlessly executed, Wrong Place, Wrong Time is a staggering achievement. I could not put this novel down—it’s just dazzling.” — Rosie Walsh, New York Times bestselling author of Ghosted “Genre-bending and totally original, I loved Wrong Place, Wrong Time . Convincing, heartbreaking and wonderfully written with a twist that made me gasp out loud. This is a tour de force!”xa0 — Claire Douglas, bestselling author of The Couple at Number 9 “If Jodi Picoult wrote thrillers, they would look like this.”xa0 — Rosamund Lupton “Almost unbearably tense … a granular exploration of secrecy and guilt — how they corrode, how they poison a psyche — in the manner of ‘The Tell-Tale Heart.’”xa0 — New York Times on The Choice GILLIAN MCALLISTER has been writing for as long as she can remember. She graduated with an English degree before working as a lawyer. She lives in Birmingham, England, where she now writes full-time. Very read

Not sure why this is getting 5 stars - it dragged on and on and became more and more predictable- plus had to throw negative politics into the mix just because not enough of that trashing to go around. Wish writers would keep their politics to themselves- that was the main reason turned off by this book.

Terrible

This is my first 1 star I have given for a book. I could not finish it! I found it boring! And not believable. Time traveling is not my thing. I read halfway through. I felt no need or did I care about these people to continue. I am not sure how this got on the Reese Book Club

Boringggg

Worst book I’ve ever read. Took me 2 months to finish, read 6 other books in between. I do not understand the 5 star reviews. The whole story line could have been told on 20 pages and they torchere you with so much irrelevant filler you don’t even remember what’s going on anymore.

Drudgery.

Ugh. Bought bc of reviews. What do people LIKE abt this book?!? The way the days flip-flopped, I never knew what day she was living. It got too confusing. Got 120 pages in and said, “That’s it!” and closed the book, never to open it again.

Unique!

I finished this book about 5 minutes ago and wowza, a lot to process huh!? This one was way fun and definitely a good book club read; I need as much discussion as I can get!
.
Jen witnesses her son commit a murder one night. Her son has never had trouble, is smart and sweet, and has no obvious motive for murder. The next morning when Jen wakes up, it is the day before the murder. Suddenly, Jen is throw into a time loop. But why? Perhaps it's to stop the murder and save her son.
.
5/5 for unique premise! Wrong Place Wrong Time caught my attention and held it throughout the read. I also liked the nostalgia of traveling back in time and put myself in a lot of the situations that Jen was in - what would I do in this situation?
.
I felt like some parts were a tad slow but aside from that, I was entertained. Definitely pick this one up if you want a unique mystery and you enjoy time travel and all the wtf-ness that presents!

Terrible writing.

I downloaded a sample of this book and the writing was so bad I couldn’t even finish the first chapter. I came here thinking this was a debut novel of some new author only to find out she’s a bestseller. Is everyone reading the same book?? I’m so confused.
The author uses descriptive language as an afterthought and throws in weird analogies that seem out of place. Quite a few of the sentences are run-ons and the conversation between characters is flat and basic. It reads like a college freshman wrote this in their fiction writing class 101. I can’t understand how this book made it past an editor, publisher, and then recommended by Reese’s book club??
Glad I did not buy this. Do not recommend.

So weird

Did not understand the hype about their book at all. One of the weirdest book I have read, nothing in the story makes sense. Read to the end thinking something very exciting will happen but no. If I would, would want to get my money back.

Returned it

This book had good reviews and I was excited to get it, that being said I returned it. The writing and story was not good to me at all. Like the movie Ground Hog day but worse. Just not for me.

Very Original

I did enjoy this book, it is very original and I love that it starts up quickly. There are some “ahhh ha” moments, however, the ending was a big of a shock, not because of the story itself but because I was really expecting more. It’s almost like it wrapped up to “end” the story and I was really hoping for a major twist. I do still recommend it because of its originality and it was an overall good read!

Confusing

Can’t always go by other peoples reviews. Did I read the same book they did? Wow, one of the worst books I have ever read, and I read a Lot of books. Characters are quite confusing Jen was always Jen, but Kelly / Ryan had me flummoxed.
Waste of time and money, sorry to say.
