Description

"It is absolutely safe to declare Sarah Kieffer the Queen of Cookies, and once you bake from this over-the-top collection of cookie perfection, you will see why the crown is hers to wear. My favorite chapter has to be Pan-Banging Cookies, because why stop with chocolate chip? Now there is a flavor for any time the mood strikes to bang that pan. This is a 'buy at least two copies' kind of book-keep one,xa0give one. The world needs this!" -Brian Hart Hoffman, editor-in-chief, Bake from Scratch ― - "Sarah Kieffer has the innate ability to create recipes that capture a sense of culinary nostalgia-both real and imagined-and are remarkably better than any memory could be. She takes every whim and amplifies its magic, creating sweets that never disappoint. She is one of the talents I rely upon when I need the platonic ideal of a recipe. This book is a treasure trove of sure-to-be favorites."- Tara O'Brady, food writer and author of Seven Spoons ― - "Sarah Kieffer is living her dream. She turned a childhood obsession for baking into the most joyful cookie book ever. I love her writing, her recipes, and the way she guides you through every step. Yet she's managed to set the bar even higher with her new book, 100 Cookies . Sarah bakes with all the passion and soul of a poet, so it is no wonder her recipes have captured the hearts of bakers all over the world. Her gorgeous photography makes it impossible to flip through the book without wanting to bake every single recipe. I am starting with the Marshmallow Peanut Butter Brownies because they are the most glorious pan of brownies I have ever seen. Well, until I turned the page to yet another beautiful creation. Sarah is nothing short of a cookie goddess! You need this book and a large glass of milk." -Zoë François , pastry chef and coauthor of the bestselling Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day series ― - "This is a cookie gold mine. If you're reading this, Buy this book!

If you're to the point of reading the reviews to see if you should buy this book - BUY IT!
1. ITS GORGEOUS! This is a beautiful book. So many pictures!
2. WELL WRITTEN! It's an easy recipe book to follow, even the more complicated recipes.
3. THE COOKIES TASTE SO GOOD! Full disclosure - I am a hair brained mom with a toddler on my hip and a preschooler on the stool next to me when I bake. I have made all the cookies in the first chapter and they all taste amazing! Even when I made mistakes. Or forgot the snicker doodles in the oven for a couple extra minutes. Or had to fish legos out the chocolate chip cookie dough. It was all worth it. The cookies are all devoured within the day.

So buy the book. It's worth every penny.

Obsessed!

I preordered this cookbook and the day it arrived I cleared my schedule for that weekend so I can test out a bunch of incredible cookie recipes. First things first - I feel like you can judge a cookbook like this by their chocolate chip cookie recipe, and the brown butter chocolate chip cookies did not disappoint! A deeper flavor than I was expecting, and they also weren’t as sweet as my go to recipe which I really enjoyed. I also tested out the chocolate espresso, toasted sesame (with a little chocolate added), molasses ginger, and neopolitan. I probably need to perfect my pan-banging skills because at first those cookies turned out wayyyyy too large and they’re always crispy instead of having a softer center but oh well. Either way, if you need some new cookie inspiration this book is a must - directions are easy to follow along and there’s a picture of every recipe which is great to compare yours too to try to determine how you did.

It was just ok

I wanted to love this book but I just didn’t get this cookie style. It’s very specific if you like thin (often greasy) cookies thy spread a lot. A lot of the recipes have the same base. Also, Its not 100 cookie recipes so just note the cover details, there are a LOT of bars as part of the “100 cookies” . I wanted to be wowed but after a few recipe tries I just wasn’t. i Can see the reviews and love but maybe I missed something.

Is it just me?

Clearly this book has a lot of positive reviews, but I haven't been wowed by this book at all. I was really excited about its release and bought it the day it came out. However, both recipes I've tried so far haven't worked. I'm an experienced baker, and yet the sugar cookies (the basic ones) came out flat and greasy (threw most of them away), and the brownies (again, the basic recipe--the first one in the chapter) were just not good. There was no shiny top, but instead a hard, dull crust on top. Also threw most of those away. I followed both recipes to the letter. I'll give one more recipe a try, but I'm feeling pretty bummed about this book!

Love this book

I am really enjoying this book. I saw this book in my bake from scratch magazine and made her pan banging snickerdoodles. They were amazing and I decided to buy her cookbook. Also just Made the netopoltion cookies and they were delicious. The ingredients in a lot of her cookies are pantry stables and easy to make. I have looked at a lot of cookies cookbooks recently— dories cookies and Marta Stewart cookie perfection and this one is my favorite.

More than just a cookbook...surely, this is pleasure reading!!

I love her literary references! I love her poetic description of what a cookie really is! I love the beautiful pictures that make my mouth water and my heart beat a little faster in anticipation! I am someone who reads cookbooks for pleasure late at night in bed and let me assure you that this book sent me off into the sweetest of dreams. Because I JUST received this, I have not yet tried any recipes. However, I have tried recipes in her previous book and have faith that these are every bit as yummy as those. She uses, for the most part, everyday ingredients and has easy to understand instructions. Reading Ms. Kieffer is like sitting down and sharing a treat with an old friend.

Something NEW for a change!

Was concerned it would just repeat all the cookie recipes from other baking books, but she did come up with some new and very interesting recipes. I have so many cookie books that this will really be the last and maybe one of the best I own. Her first baking book really caught my eye and I use it a lot......."The Vanilla Bean Baking Book". She is really very talented.

Listen everyone: You need this baking cookbook because this is the best cookbook I’ve ever purchased. There are elevated classics in here. There are classics with a twist. There are totally new recipes I’ve never heard of. I was interested in this thanks to the recommendation from Baking from Scratch. Sarah, who is obsessed with baked goods and strives to perfect a recipe (a la Julia child), is someone I want to follow and support. Im famous in my social network for my baked goods - but having the perfect recipe is key. I’ve already bought 2 of these as Christmas presents. This book is a staple and I don’t think it’s fair for me to be the only one with it. Warning: whatever you make won’t last long because people will go crazy. PS it didn’t take months to ship, more like a couple weeks. Enjoy!

Excellent drop pan cookies

I bought this one for my wife. Tuned out to be a great investment with a great rate of return: lots of great tasting cookies. So far these have been fantastic: Peanut butter cookies recipe #85, snicker-doodle cookies #87, and scotharoos #75. The book itself is very nicely bound. Overall highly recommended - my wife loves it.

Amazing recipes!

The book has recipe for delicious cookies with a perfect texture and amazing flavors. I was a bit worried since I'm used to having to chill my cookie dough for hours and these recipe don't call for chilling, but the cookies came out prefect - not too flat, chewy and slightly crispy at the sides. Instructions in recipes are clear and the pictures make you want to bake it all!

-UPDATE: I have now made several other recipes from this book and can confirm that this is probably my favorite baking book EVER. So much so, that I've decided to literally bake the whole book from end to end, even the things I wouldn't normally like - I trust this book that much that I know it'll turn out amazing.
