Good content, bad formatting

Tenses explication the first few pages useful. However, the formatting and layout just makes my blood boil. The text starts at the tippy top of the page, almost cut off, whereas there’s plenty of space at the bottom of the page. Who the hell came up with this idea? Or Barron’s doesn’t have a copy editor?? If I had a better content choice, I would send this book back.

Incomprehensible how Comprehensive this is.

My wife bought this book to help with her tutoring. She is sitting across from me now hugging the book and telling me just how much she loves it. She pointed out that it's incomprehensible how comprehensive this book is. She says that it far exceeded her expectations. It makes everything so easy to understand in such a detailed and organized way. I'm afraid she'd rather sleep with the book now than with me.

Even my French teacher uses this great book in her classes as an aid to the students

This is one of the best books for learning French verbs. I've been speaking French since I was 10 but I still refer to this book at times. I also take an advanced French class just to keep current and everyone in our class uses this book and finds it to be quite helpful.. Even our teacher who is a French native advises the students to go out and buy this book. This is my 2nd edition because I wore the first one out from using it for so many years. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to perfect their French language skills.

This is a great book. It is thorough and suitable for both beginning students that need the extra help with conjugation and for advanced learners that want something reliable to reference. It is sizable and easy to navigate.

and the latest edition does not disappoint. A must for French students young and old

I used this book in high school almost 50 years ago, and the latest edition does not disappoint. A must for French students young and old, regardless of the learning platform you are using.

55 verbs layout is terrible. Great resource still

Great resource but confusing the way they laid out the 55 Key Verbs page comes after the actual conjugation page. You would think that a book with 768 pages would have a few more to put the verb and the supplementary page facing each other. Just poorly organized for my tastes. Flipping back and forth for verbs like etre avoir aller is cumbersome.

NO CD

NO CD was included. There is a pocket where it should have been but ... NO CD as advertised. Disappointing.

Buy this

I highly recommend this book and all other books of the 501 verb series. I just read two verbs each day. I might not remember but by the end I know all of the verb grammar by heart without effort to try and remember. And the beginning stuff is in my subconscious anyways. If want to learn French this is a good starting point for verbs. This and a general grammar book together are enough of a base. Do this with music or movies and that’s enough to become conversational.

It is a book of verbs. I don't think I would have purchased this one if I had realized how big it is.
