A cute start for to a new shojo romance

I went into this series blind, hunting for more Shojo romance to add to my collection. It delivered, but with significantly less screen tone than I’d expected. The plot of this series can be summed up by: girl does something nice for a playboy who then falls in love with her and he will stop at nothing until he’s earned her love back. Problem is, she doesn’t really ‘get’ the whole romance thing. I feel like I’ve seen the “doesn’t understand romance” character trait a lot lately, but I suppose that’s fine. Hotaru has really expressive eyes and bushy little eyebrows. She’s an easy to love character. The boy in this romance, Hananoi seems to be more of the traditional ‘ikemen’ type character, but with a decidedly puppy-dog side to him. He’s loyal, and earnest. Perhaps misunderstood by his previous girlfriends. But, at time, we get glimpses that maybe he’s got a dark side? (or maybe just REALLY horny?) We shall see…
