For each crochet stitch or technique, an actual-size drawing is presented so that the child can place her work on the drawing to be sure that what she is doing is correct. Kid-friendly explanations and instructions accompany the illustrations. Best ever for teaching

This book is outstanding. It’s the best I’ve seen for teaching crochet to beginners of all ages. Not just for kids. Also good for adults who forgot how to crochet as they were taught as youngsters. The illustrations are clear and easy to follow. I highly recommend it. I’ve taught crocheting to all age groups, and wish I had this book way back then!

Not what I expected, illustrated stitch instructions, not photographs

Good for learning stitches. Shorter book, 25 pages of illustrated stitch instructions(not photographs). Book covers how to hold a hook, the slipknot, the chain stitch, the single crochet stitch, the double crochet stitch, a half double crochet stitch, the triple crochet stitch, and the slip stitch. There are five pages with five projects on them, with a picture of the completed project and then written instructions. I was hoping for photograph step-by-step instructions for the projects. But the book is good for learning stitches, my daughter found it very helpful after being confused by another book that had photographs steps of the stitches. Good for learning stitches but not too much for projects.

I would recommend this to everyone learning to

My granddaughter wanted to learn to crochet. She saw a lady crocheting on a porch and she decided then and there she wanted to learn. I showed her a few simple steps, but the book is well illustrated and even has patterns for simple projects. book shows hand positions and all the steps are highlighted. I would recommend this to everyone learning to crochet

Exactly what we wanted!

I bought this for my 9-year-old granddaughter for Christmas. She has watched me crochet since she was a toddler and she wanted SO much for me to teach her. We tried, but I couldn’t get her very far. But this book —with large illustrations and clear directions is working great for her! She loves it — so I do, too!

Sexist Garbage

One star because I can't give zero. Extremely sexist. Boys like to crochet too.

Very good for kids

Bought this for my granddaughter that is 12. The pictures are big and most helpful in my granddaughter understanding how to crochet. Along with the book and a little bit of instruction from me she got the hang of it in no time.

Crochet

Bought it for my great-granddaughter. She wants to learn crochet and I'm not nearby to teach her.

Very, very basic.

It only showed how to do single, double and treble stitches. It did show how to count and turn at the edge but nothing on adding or decreasing. I planned on giving it to a young girl that knows a bit about crochet thinking it would make more things clearer. It is ok and would be good for someone who never has done a crochet stitch.
