Features & Highlights

  • There are only three things Bow Street runner Georgina Jenkins knows about the man she pulls out of the Thames. His name, his lack of memory, and the fact that he’s in trouble.
  • As the only female detective, Georgie lives by two rules -- to seek justice where warranted and to never be swayed by emotion. Unable to turn away from anyone who needs her help, she must solve the mystery of the handsome stranger affected with amnesia. The more she learns about him, however, the more she becomes certain that he must belong to the world of lords and ladies that have caused her so much pain.He may not remember anything about himself except the name engraved on the medallion upon his chest, but Leo does know one thing -- he is in trouble. When he opens his eyes to his saviour, he is instantly captivated, and begs her to keep his presence secret. She reluctantly agrees, and Leo finds himself growing ever more attracted to the woman who is keeping him safe.Georgie and Leo cannot deny their feelings for each other, but know nothing can come of them until the honorable Leo determines whether he is promised to another. He is afraid, however, that once he regains access to his memories, he might realize he was better off without them. For all they seem to do is to put him and those he loves in continued danger -- a danger that even Georgie might not be able to fight. Especially not when she learns the truth.
  • Is love between two people who have no right to be together enough to overcome honor, pride, and, most importantly, the past? This Regency romance contains some steamy content.

The Amnesiac & the Detective

This is the last book in The Bluestocking Scandals & all eight of them have been such fun & I have learned things about the vocations/interests/talents of each one of these strong & intelligent women. The books can be read as standalones but I would suggest reading them in series order to become acquainted with each woman & her strong man who supports her totally.

Georgina "Georgie" Jenkins is a female detective who works with Bow Street - she is intuitive, intelligent & willing to work twice as hard as the men to earn her position. When she finds a man floating on a plank of wood in the Thames, her & her associates fish him out of the water & he awakes long enough to beseech Georgie to not take him to the hospital as someone is trying to hurt him - she believes him & takes him to her home.

Leo remembers nothing - not who he is, what happened to him; the only clue is a silver, expensive looking medallion around his neck with Leopold engraved on the surface & Leo thought it was familiar - so Leo was the name he was going to be called. Georgie also found a clue in the fact that he spoke like a member of society & his social manners also led her to that fact.

The mystery of who Leo really is, the slow burn between Leo & Georgie & the threat to everyone who knows Leo's true identity has put many people in danger of losing their lives to get to Leo. This was such a fun romance between two people of different classes & how their adventure took them to a HEA. I loved being able to visit with the ladies from the past books & their husbands (it won't matter if you haven't read the previous books) & I loved the epilogue plus the extra epilogue five years down the road! I voluntarily read & reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts & opinions are my own.

A lady Bow Street Runner and an amnesiac

A not-too-long story of a female bow street runner, Georgie, and the mystery man she helps after he is fished out of the Thames, Leo. He has amnesia for the first part of the story, but that does not drag out too long. While he is recovering from the injuries that cost him his memory, Georgie lets him stay at her apartment. They each quickly realize they like each other, but Leo knows he can’t pursue anything with Georgie until he remembers enough to know if he is free to do so. Georgie, for her part, believes that Leo is likely a nobleman far above her social position and so tries to avoid any attachment.

Georgie and Leo work to figure out who he is, and once they do, find out who wants to harm him and why. This mystery takes up as much of the story as the romance.

The story is not “clean” but Leo and Georgie spend more time wishing for more than actually doing more, so it’s not too terribly steamy either.

This appears to be the last of the Bluestocking series, as all the the characters are linked up at the end. A few of Georgie’s friends feature more prominently throughout the story, but by the end, all of the ladies are accounted for. You do not need to have read the other stories to enjoy this one, however. It’s enjoyable enough that you might just want to go back and read them too, though!

When strangers meet and love begins

This is the perfect story to finish a great set of books. There are eight in this series and all can be read as stand alone, but so much better if read in order. Some of the characters appear is all of the books.
It's nice to know the history of the couples, but this story is great on its own.
Georgina (Georgie) Jenkins is the first female detective for Bow Street. With her friends and fellow detective's Marshall and Drake she works hard to overcome being a woman.
Her and Marshall pull a man from the Thames after a ship blows up. He has a serious head injury and turns out not to be listed as part of the ship's members. He wakes enough to tell Georgie he is in trouble and someone is out to harm him. Against Marshall's wishes she takes him home to care for him. When is wakes he has no idea who he is or why he is certain that other are out to kill him?
Leo and Georgie work to find out who he is and while doing so learn they both are way to attracted to the other. Georgie is sure is a nob, the way he talks and acts he must be from high society. She knows nothing can come from how she is starting to feel as she is a street kid.
With people trying to kill him, his memory slowing coming back, danger to anyone around him.
This is a great suspenseful tale added with the wit and attraction once you start you can't put it down. Something is always happening to one or the other of them.
The first and second Epilogue are wonderful !!
I received and ARC from the author and wish to thank her. This is my honest opinion and am freely giving it... Don't miss this series is one of the best...

Holy Cow

This story starts off with a bang and keeps them coming until the end. I Love Georginia, she is the first woman Bow Street Detective and she doesn't take anyone's guff. But When she helps Leo there starts to be a softer side that comes out that surprises her even I think. Theirs is a great story and couldn't put it down.

excellent romance

Georgie is the only female Bow Street Runner detective. She rescues Leo from the Thames, after he has been injured and lost his memory. Leo is really a lord who has evil men trying to kill him. Very good story with steamy romance. An excellent addition to a fine series.
