A balm

During these difficult times, reading these volumes is a balm. I eagerly awaited this 4th volume since June after reading the others. The story of an older man and his cat and the love they develop is precious and moving and cat owners will appreciate the interactions and nuances. The drawings are moving and perfect even without the dialogue. I had someone translate the Japanese versions for me previously because I couldn't wait, and the English translations seemed to get all the nuances and more--the title page moved me to tears alone--I won't spoil it for those who haven't read it. Volume 5 covers when Fukumaru gets lost. I eagerly await Volume 5 in December.

A bit verklempt reading this

'A Man and His Cat' continues to be a very sweet manga about a widower and his adorable affectionate cat, and reaching out for love and affection from the animals and people around you. In between the one-off cat jokes, there's also a nice long-running story about recovering from trauma that often has be a bit verklempt. If you like cats and emotional stories, you owe it to yourself to check this series out.
