The Story

I picked up this book series on a whim because it sounded like it would be a fun read. I’m glad I did as I’ve enjoyed books one and two and currently on book three. This series has a good assortment of likable and developed characters with a decent magic system.
One of the main things actually that I’ve enjoyed is how one of the leads, Tal is portrayed. He’s this legendary hero who people love and adore because of the tales told about him. In reality though he’s far from the typical stoic fantasy hero. Not to say he doesn’t have his stoicism or fantasy lead characteristics but he’s also a very flawed a damaged man. For all of his great deeds he’s accomplished there are just as many bad ones. And that’s what I like is this character who suffers from self loathing and depression a majority of the time has to plaster on a cocky smile and act like the brave hero of legend.
So definitely worth checking out for any lovers of fantasy.
