Features & Highlights

  • Do you know what hope smells like? It’s a combination of the sea, of exposed seaweed and salty air. Of wet sand on a winter’s day. Jayne was mid forties when she experienced the worst and the best times of her life. She fell in love, so desperately in love. She lost everything overnight. But no matter how bad life gets, how far down that dark tunnel you are, there is always a glimmer of hope. From her dream house in Kent, via the nuthouse, and eventually to a cottage in Cornwall, Jayne takes a journey that is to wound, to destroy, and eventually heal her. This is a story of one woman’s quest to find herself, and learn to love herself again. Contemporary Romance for readers over the age of 18.

It has been years since I've been moved this deeply by someone else's story, and I feel the desperate need to hug.

I don't often feel like I am sitting beside the protagonist when I'm reading a book. I mostly read from a distance, comfortably removed. And although books and their characters can move me, Jayne rocked me to the core.
She is me, my friends, my sisters.
She is brutally real and heartbreakingly recognizable.
She is the reflection in my mirror at the end of another day, and she's the hope that lives in my heart.
She is the beautiful woman I've come to know, who portrays a lighthearted and confident exterior, but suffers in silence.
I love stories that tell of a journey, that describe the transformation from despair to hope. Stories like this, that teach us it is possible to dig deep and find the strength to face the next day.
With our head held high, our face to the sun and a seed of hope in our hearts.
It has been years since I've been moved this deeply by someone else's story, and I feel the desperate need to hug.

If you are not afraid to be challenged emotionally—to recognize yourself in someone else's words—read this story. If you want to believe there is hope—despite a life that has proven again and again there is none—you need to pick up this book and believe with me.

A must read

When you're reading this book you could be mis forgiven that this book could be real life.

We meet 45 year old Jane, She's married to a absolue idiot of a husband Michael. Michael just sees Jayne as his possession. He's enjoying a rather active sex life but not with Jayne over the years he's had numerous affairs. Jayne just puts up with it. They have a son and daughter together. But their marriage is lifeless for years.

When Jayne's best friend Carla offers her the chance to go to the Maldives and get away from Michael and her everyday life Jayne realises that she has nothing to lose. Like Jayne, Carla put up with a husband that constantly cheated which led to Carla getting divorced.

The girls head to the Maldives it's here that Jayne develops a friendship in a nan called Stefan. It's not before the girls holiday has came to a end and they must return to normality. But the friendship between Jayne and Stefan continues through email. It's long before Jayne is sucked into a virtual affair with Stefan.

In reality though things are getting from bad to worse for Jayne after the shambles of the past few years has no fight in it from either side ends.

A tragic event happens to Jayne but I am not one to give away spoilers.

fantastic read

I have read a few of Tracie's books and I can honestly say this was something else. A Virtual Affair was freaking amazing and at times had me feeling like my heart was going to explode. The emotional journey that this book takes you on is incredible. You don't just get the basic telling's you get the raw heartbreaking details that have you turning each page in desperation of knowing what will happen next. It also reads life like so at times I wanted to climb in and shake the life out of people. Beautiful, heartbreaking, intense and heart in mouth moments describe my experience with this book. If you pick this book up I guarantee you wont be putting it down in a hurry.
