I've heard of Doctors without Boarders but never Publishers without Editors

The editing of this book was non-existent. There was no continuity or follow through (if the time line is accurate, then the sheriff was just 19 years old and already a deputy, but in another section of the book, he's in college studying criminal justice...so how could he be both at the same time?). On one page a character is comfortably seated at the kitchen table chatting over a cup of coffee but two paragraphs later he's pacing the kitchen, too nervous to sit down (but he was already there enjoying his cuppa' joe and never got up...or got nervous either). At the onset of the story, bride Edie is marrying two different men (Bill and Dan).

Where was the editor when this sentence was printed "If only women were are easy to figure out." [sic]? Was an editor earning his/her salary when this grammatical atrocity was printed "Let I worry about the flowers."?

The lack of editing was so distracting as to draw attention completely away from the story line. Although other than the soft porn they provided (at least in their own minds), the two main characters really weren't very interesting (not nearly as interesting as the Sheriff and Honey B). But if you don't mind books published w/ no editing (or publishers who do not retain editors), it might be an OK read (if you drink lots of wine before tackling it).

A Honey B and a sheriff.

The town of Apple Grove, Ohio, is unlike any other. Everyone is friendly but nosy; small in population but big in heart. When the locals need any handiwork done, they know that there is no job too small for the Mulcahy sisters: Megan, Caitlin, and Grace. Meg is the oldest sister. The petite redhead works hard in the family-run business. All day long she makes her scheduled rounds to fix whatever needs fixing in the homes of Apple Grove. Since this is a small town, everyone knows everything about everyone, and not all customers pay in cash. A few bake the most mouthwatering deserts that the entire Mulcahy family is more than happy to receive them in lieu of cash.

Daniel "Dan" Eagan is determined to put his ex-fiancé and his ex-buddy firmly in the past. Dan is looking to make a new start in Apple Grove. The only person Dan knows in the town is Aunt Trudi and according to her, Dan will fall in love with the place. Dan has only just crossed into the county when he spies a lady walking on a fence as if it were a balance beam. Dashing from his car to the fence, Dan reaches the redhead in time to catch her as she falls. The instant their eyes meet, neither can deny the attraction that springs up between them. Meg no longer believes in romance and Dan fears another rejection, but their hearts refuse to be denied. And when Meg's past collides with her future, it may take all the residents of Apple Grove to keep their romance from short-circuiting.

*** THREE STARS! I must admit that there are some very interesting characters that live in the town of Apple Grove. It is the type of place that resembles Mayberry (from the Andy Griffith Show). Everyone seems to know about everyone else's families and gossip spreads faster than a virus among kids in school. This story starts out pretty slowly and many character names are thrown at the reader early on, but you will not have to worry about trying to remember them all. To help readers out, the author has listed the cast of characters in the front of the book for quick reference.

Though the relationship between Meg and Dan is the primary focus, there are one or two others happening simultaneously. Watching Honey B. make a certain sheriff crazy with her internet dating is just as fun as wondering what color the little beautician will dye her hair each week. For me, there are times that Honey B.'s love life was even more interesting than Meg's! By the story's end, I was grinning from ear-to-ear and wondering who finished up Mrs. Doyle's perm - if anyone.

I am eager to return to the people of Apple Grove. I have come to care for several and I find it awful to leave them, even if it is only for a short while. Admirand needs to write faster! ***

***Jill Shalvis fans take note....***

I received this book in a giveaway from the author. This had no influence on my review.

A Wedding in Apple Grove was my introduction to author, C.H.Admirand, and I fell in love with Apple Grove. Although this is part of a trilogy it can be read as a standalone. Small town romances really draw me in. This trilogy centers on the Mulcahy sisters: Megan, Caitlin and Grace. They run their fathers handyman business. The townspeople are used to calling on them for everything from fixing a leaky pipe to patching a leaky roof.

Dan Eagan comes to Apple Grove at the recommendation of his Aunt Trudi, an eighty year old who is full of sass and sense. Dan is the new coach of the school football team and also a phys ed teacher. He also comes to Apple Grove to start his life fresh. He wants to forget his ex-fiancee, who flushed his engagement ring down the toilet and also his ex best friend that she cheated on Dan with. But almost right after he gets to town he meets Megan Mulcahy and it seems that his heart wants to lead him instead of his brain. There is something about Meg that draws him right in.

Megan Mulcahy has pretty much helped her father raise her two younger sisters since her mother died ten years ago. She dated Jimmy Van Orden in high school and thought they would get married once she graduated but he had other ideas. He hated Apple Grove and couldn't wait to leave. Meg would never leave. Jimmy left and would come home a couple of times a year and Meg would always be there for him. This has gone on for ten years. When she meets Dan she feels something she has never felt for Jimmy.

This is where the story really draws you in. Will they? Won't they? They are each nursing broken hearts and very skittish about opening up and giving their love to someone else. If you are a Jill Shalvis fan I am sure you will love this book. I am now on to One Day in Apple Grove and know I will enjoy as much as this one. Well deserving of all five stars.

Adding a new favorite author to my list!!!

I had not read any books by this author before but have a list of ones I will read now. I really enjoyed A Wedding in Apple Grove. It moved right along and I liked that the trust showed between Meg and Dan right away. None of that misconstrued stuff. Liked the family closeness......reminds me of my own relationship with my sisters and brother. Am looking forward to the next book in this series and already have The Secret Life of Cowboys series (Tyler, Dylan, and Jesse) on my side table waiting to be read!! I highly recommend this book and this author to all.

"A Wedding in Apple Grove is a light-hearted story full of colorful characters. "

Megan Mulcahy and her sisters Grace and Caitlin work for their dad in their family run handyman business in Apple Grove, Ohio. Daniel Eagan is new to Apple Grove, and he's got a lot to learn about small-town life. Meg is gun shy when it comes to relationships; the man she thought she loved turned out to be Mr. Wrong. The attraction between Meg and Dan is simmering but is Dan Meg's Mr. Right?

A Wedding in Apple Grove is a light-hearted story full of colorful characters. It describes the sweet, simple life of a small town and a sensual romance full of heat and heart. Meg is a little insecure and she's been burned before, so she's wary of Dan and her feelings for him. Dan wasn't looking for love either, so he's surprised by his sudden, strong attraction to Meg. Dan takes a long time to figure out what he wants while Meg wears her heart on her sleeve. Reading A Wedding in Apple Grove is like taking a step back in time. It's a little too old fashioned for a modern age.

Great comfort read!

Megan Maureen Mulcahy loves her hometown of Apple Grove, Ohio and has no plans of ever leaving, which caused the problem with her high school sweetheart who just couldn't wait to leave. Even though Meg knows she's nothing more than a convenience to him--someone to spend time with whenever he comes to town--she longs for something more. At this point, she's realizing that he never will pop the question. However, after her mother died, Meg took over and helped raise her little sisters, in addition to working with her father at the family handyman business. Now all three sisters work for the business. All these thoughts are running through Meg's mind at the wedding of some friends. So Meg decides to go for a walk.

Ready for a fresh start after his ex-fiancée flushed the diamond ring he gave her down the toilet to marry his ex-best friend, Daniel Eagan is glad his great-aunt Trudi helped him get this job in Apple Grove as a phys ed teacher and soccer coach. Trying to remember his aunt's directions to his new house, Dan happens to notice a girl walking on a fence and just manages to get there in time for her to fall into his arms. Sparks fly when they touch and Dan decides then and there that he wants this girl in his life.

Will Dan get what he wants? Will Meg finally be able to put all thoughts of her high school boyfriend out of her mind now that Dan has moved to Apple Grove?

A WEDDING IN APPLE GROVE is a heartwarming contemporary romance between two people meant to be together. It's obvious C.H. Admirand knows exactly what small town living is like with everyone knowing everyone else's business--and interfering when necessary. I really loved all the secondary characters, from Meg's sisters always wanting to know her business, to Honey B., Meg's best friend who advertises her business by coloring her hair every week. The romance between Honey B. and the sheriff was an added bonus to this story. The characters are all engaging, the story moves right along and it ends with a heartfelt sigh. Definitely a great comfort read!
