Description

“I have come to know and value Dr. Ina Gösmeier … she possesses the very rare gift of being able to consolidate the diverse and complicated facts of medical cases into explanations that the layperson can easily follow.”— Ingrid Klimke, Olympic Equestrian Gold Medalist One of the key players on Olympian Ingrid Klimke's team is the veterinarian Dr. Ina Gösmeier, who specializes in such methodologies as acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). In Acupressure for Horses , Gösmeier shows horse owners how to use acupressure, the non-needling form of stimulating acupuncture points, to help relieve their animals' minor aches and pains and stimulate their well-being. Beginning with explanations of the concepts of TCM and a guide to determining your horse's dominant element according to TCM principles, Gösmeier provides a step-by-step guide to this noninvasive way of helping horses feel and perform better. Ample clear color photos show the meridians, acupressure points, and techniques. USDF Connection A simplified, do-it-yourself handbook, Acupressure for Horses is perfect for the hands-on equestrian who is looking to do the best for his or her horse..” — Equine Journal Dr. Ina Gösmeier studied veterinary medicine at the University of Giessen, after which she worked in a practice for horses and small animals. She subsequently obtained the specialist qualification in acupuncture and undertook additional studies in Chinese herbology at universities in China and Switzerland. Dr. Gösmeier has herself taken part in Grand Prix dressage and she obtained her qualification of “Master in Horse Breeding and Management” in 1989. She is also involved in the teaching of acupuncture to veterinary practitioners at universities and lectures regularly in the USA, Britain, and Ireland. Since 2002, Dr. Gösmeier has been responsible for horses for German teams at championship events, including the Olympic games in London and Rio, where her job was to maintain the health, well-being and performance of the team horses with her naturopathic methods. She is also the author of Acupressure for Horses and an accompanying video of the same title.

Could have been better organized

This book has a lot of valid information regarding acupressure, meridians, horse personality types, e t c. I'm only giving it 4 stars however because it is poorly organized. There is no table of contents for reference. Finding the correct acupressure points her particular condition or type of horse requires going back and forth to the index and reading the different pages that contain the keyword. Why there is no table of contents by Meridian, Point, an illness is unbeknownst to me. I'm actually purchasing another acupressure book as I find it will be easier and faster to find what I'm looking for. But, there is a lot of history invalid information here so four stars
