Read the dimensions and reviews. 8.5" square book

Looks great online but very small, cover has a weird rubbery feel and picks up dirt and finger prints. So strange to me! The pages are one sided which I like since I switch from colored pencils to markers. I love about 4 pages and dislike the rest. Either the pages are so detailed they are impossible to color or they are the opposite and aren't detailed enough. The pages are only 8.5" square, pages aren't perforated as you can see in the picture. This is one of the few I liked, I used stabilo 68's and Bic marker both sold on Amazon.

Not what I expected

Smaller than I was expecting. Thick and sturdy pages. No perforation, but tore decently when I tore out a page. Print is pretty decent. My only complaint is that most of these designs are VERY detailed and super tiny. I bought for use with coloring pencils. Even perfectly sharpened, some spaces are too tiny to get into. I am thinking about purchasing gel pens for this- but I almost doubt that gel pens will even fit in some of the designs- highly recommend a fine or super fine tip on whatever medium you chose. Crayons will definitely NOT work with this! Honestly, I will end up purchasing a different one, and I doubt I will color many more of these.

Very disappointing!

There are 48 pictures in this book. In at least 17 of them, the black outlines are so big and thick they would only be suitable as black line drawings. When color is applied - what stands out are the ugly black guidelines - making the color insignificant in comparison. In addition another 8 of them have such fine spaces that even the sharpest point a my premium Prismacolor pencils can not make a fine enough line to fill them in with color and stay within the line. You have to color "blocks" of space the same color. So more than half the pictures in the book, are not usable. Good thing it was cheap because that really is the only thing to recommend it. I have purchased adult coloring books for myself and as gifts. I like this one the least of any I have ever seen.
ADDED later - - the book was not as disappointing as I had first thought. BUT there are still too many extremely fine lined drawings and I still do not care for the heavy black lined drawings. I am changing my rating to 2 stars - I want to be fair.

Good Coloring Book with a Couple Flaws!

I recently discovered adult coloring books as a tool for stress relief and I was delighted with the idea since I loved coloring when I was younger! I searched a lot to see what types of coloring books were available and ordered a number of them, along with a big box of colored pencils, and a sharpener. As soon as everything arrived, I picked up this coloring book and happily began coloring, almost instantly feeling myself relax!

There are a number of pros and cons for this book. I'll start with the pros. First of all, I like the variety of designs. This book contains a lot of different mandalas and henna-inspired patterns so if you like that, this coloring book would suit you well. There are 48 total designs, with one design per sheet of paper, so you can tear out each picture if you want and hang them up. The designs are printed on medium-thick paper which works well with my colored pencils but I think colored pens would bleed unless you put a couple sheets of paper behind the page you are coloring. This book is also fairly affordable so if you are just getting started with coloring books and want to test it out without spending a lot of money, this one may be a good choice.

I have also found a couple of cons with this coloring book. Most of the designs are fairly easy to color but there are a few that are incredibly small and very sharp colored pencils MIGHT work. The book is also not a full-size book like all of the other ones I purchased. It measures approximately 8 1/2" by 8 1/2" so it is a smaller, square-shaped book. While I was definitely surprised by the size of it, this book would also be easy to stick in a purse and take to work or somewhere if you have to wait around for awhile.

Overall, I like this coloring book and would recommend it to anyone who is just getting started with adult coloring books. I bought one for my mom and she is enjoying it as well. There are a few issues that prevented me from giving this book five stars but I am still enjoying it and have found that it is really helping to relieve my stress level. For me, the simple, quiet act of coloring makes me feel calm and peaceful as well as accomplished when the picture is finished! I have included a couple of my finished pictures with this review. I used the [[ASIN:B0027PA1AU Sargent Art 22-7251 Colored Pencils, Pack of 50, Assorted Colors]] and they work really well with this book. All in all, I'd recommend this coloring book to anyone looking to relieve some stress by coloring!

Couldn't be any happier

My favorite coloring book. I have searched high & low for one like this. I love how the back of each page is blank; if you ever want to tear a page out, hang it on the wall, or give it to someone you can! I love that. I constantly check other books out in the store & none of them have that. The pages aren't chintzy or thin. I use Prisma colored pencils; you could probably use marker on these if you wanted! (make sure to put a blank sheet of paper underneath if you do)

... this for a homeless man who is a very sweet and friendly guy with whom I'd had several conversations

I bought this for a homeless man who is a very sweet and friendly guy with whom I'd had several conversations, when I saw him coloring in pages in a comic book. He said he loved art it it helped him pass the time. I bought him this book plus a nice set of colored pencils and a sharpener, and he absolutely loves it! He has spent many hours of many days since carefully coloring in the pages, and is always eager to show me and his other friends the progress he's made on the pictures. I've lately seen that he's been getting similar books from other friends, plus when he started talking about how he was now trying to save money to buy a special ink pen set, I gave him the money and he bought it the next day.

He told me that coloring those pictures really does relax him, fills his days, keeps his brain busy, and is a great conversation starter with passers-by.

relaxing

enjoying this book and have already colored a few pages. I do like some of the designs a bit more than others - in particular the ones that are more symmetrical (that is just my preference). There are some which have more detailed designs - I think I will hold off on those until a later point.

for the ones I have done, I mostly used colored pencils (crayola) and one using Marker (Prismacolor). Note with the marker version....be sure to use some napkins, blank sheets of paper to separate from the next page - there was some bleeding.

Too Late; Too Small

Ordered this on 12/20/2015 via Amazon Prime. I was supposed to have 2-day shipping. However, item arrive on 12/26/2015. Way over 2 days and past Christmas. Then when I flipped through it, I found the illustrations way too small. The space in which one is to color is so small only a fine point pen or really sharp pencil will work. Disappointing all around.
