3rd time shame on me!!!!
Ok, I’m a huge Patterson fan, buy every book as soon as it hits the market but I gotta say I feel like JP is really pulling the wool over our eyes, The book or shall I say the first story was great, Michael Bennett is great read , but to end the book with the short story Manhunt is ridiculous, this is now the third time I’ve spent money on this short story.... come on JP, I totally feel you are ripping the public off , this is the sole reason for the one star.... Any future plans to publish Manhunt and trick us into paying for it again???? Love to hear from you!!!!

Second story used several books Back
I have been a fan of Michael Bennett stories. the first half a this book was god. I like the personal elements of his family. However the second half of the book describes an event that was written several books back. The Macy's Thanksgiving parade boom explosion. It seemed to be word for ward that last story with the addition of Taking to his eldest while his son was in prison. That hadn't occurred when the original story was written. I was disappointed to spend money on a book that I had already read beforel

ambush
Ambush: James Patterson/James O. Born
Sometimes the unexpected happens when you stay alert but not at your fullest capacity. Detective Michael Bennett and his new partner Antrole Martens are on a call hoping to take down a suspect without anyone getting hurt. But, sometimes all the best recon and all the best information did not prepare them for the end result an Ambush that sent them facing what no cop ever wants the death of his partner. The contract killer is Alexandra Martinez and she is deadly. No remorse just making sure that her contracts are filled, her bank account is increased and those that she is ordered to kill are dead. Hiring Dominicans or her crew at the end of this ambush or sting she thought that she got her prey: Michael Bennett who has yet to realize that he was the intended victim and his partner was killed in the crossfire.
Bullets hit the all around them after Antrole fired and then stumbled onto the floor but how many shooters were left?
Ambush takes us inside the mind of a diabolical killer whose only goal is to fulfill her contact as Michael Bennett killed one of the members of drug cartel’s son and revenge was the solution anyway possible. When the killer realizes that her team failed, She eliminates them to keep them silent. Anyone who gets in her way dies and her only allegiance is to herself and her concern for her two young children.
Micheal Bennett has ten children each one different and all loyal to each other. Mary Catherine came into his or her lives and is a blessing that keeps everyone straight and Grandfather Seamus is a priest you have to adore.
• As the murders pile up and Bennett is asked to investigate more cold cases or others that are still being investigated, he meets a young detective who turns out to be smart, reliable, and honest and a true friend. Using one of the suspects to find information and nit arresting him proves fatal for him and his partner. Alex the killer seems to be ten steps ahead of the police and always planning Bennett’s demise.
Juliana his oldest just got a role as an actress and Bennett intends to visit the set and check out the cast, crew and more.
Things spiral out of control as the killer decides to take out more targets and then meets an unsuspecting police officer and thinks he might be the link to learning more about Bennett. Alex Martinez had the mark of a professional and making adjustments in her life was one of them. Planning her surveillance and not being seen yet visible was her primary trait but for how long will she skate.
When Brian Bennett, Michael’s son is brutally attacked in prison while serving time for selling drugs, he takes off on his own, leaves the hospital after being seriously hurt to make sure that Brian will not undergo anymore hits.
Talking to many Russian families and learning more about the drug cartel did not give him the face of the killer. Yet one specific detective was as relentless as Mike and looking at videos might yield a face and the fact that the killer was a woman not a man.
When Mike takes a walk with Father Alonzo and an unknown assailant attacks them he realizes that the priest has a history that they are about to learn about as a cop in the Columbian police force. Life handed him some difficult times and the decision to become a priest and he’s fantastic with the kids and has a positive influence on them including promoting sports, you want this character to reoccur many times and his quick thinking safes Mike’s life. Things get more dangerous as someone is following Mike, taking out anyone in her wake and the police officer just might become another liability.
Taking her down would not be easy the end face off just might be deadly, as Juliana becomes her next target. But, this is a story of family tradition, loyalties, love, hope and Mary Catherine who’s at the center of all of their lives and seems to be able to handle the tough times, keeps Mike centered and focused and is able to work with each of his ten children encouraging them all to be their best at all times. When the head of the school learns more about Eddie as a computer genius she always becomes aware of Trent who might benefit from a more involved computer/technology program and who is always math oriented and quite smart. The other children have their own strengths and Juliana has paired herself with some named Carter/Cade his stage name and hers Jules not her father’s favorite, things get more involved and Juliana is about to learn the true meaning of selfish, used and a man too old for her who is out for his own good. Instinct, second guessing and smart police work come into play but a deadly killer just might outsmart them all when she enters the set where Juliana is working, befriends her but little does she realize that Mike and Seamus are right there and observe it all. Aware that she is the killer, Mike kicks into first gear but the final scenes are dangerous, lives are at stake, Juliana proves she is tough but a killer like Alex might not be a match for anyone until someone comes out of nowhere and hopefully will safe them all.
When they face off and she gets away will Mike be able to outrun her, find her as she goes into places and takes more lives or will she win out? The Priest’s life is in jeopardy and the killer might win but if caught will she skate with her connections to the mob?
An ending that will remind you about Brian and the reason why he’s in jail and Mike wants to do his best to get him out? The warnings are given but is this the end of a vendetta as the authors leave us wondering if Mike and his family are safe, if the killer will win out in the long run and if the cartel still as a vendetta to settle with him. Once again James Patterson and James O. Born created a suspense filled, tension filled, highly energizes mystery/murder thriller. You won’t be disappointed in this one.

Enjoyed book.
I enjoyed Ambush a Michael Bennett novel. Not so much the second book 'Manhunt' which was previously released. Yes, there are 2 books for the price of one. When I purchase a book I want the new novel with a decent number of pages and NOT a second book added as filler. Patterson or whomever could of gone into more depth on Ambush and made it more enjoyable.
