A great read for "amatuer astronomers"!

This book is written by a PHD. Well, he may know the facts as a lofty thinker,BUT, he writes to my level. I just finished the 1st chapter(Getting started with astronomy),and I could not stop reading. He knows what of he speaks, and writes so that anyone(I mean anyone)can understand. Granted, people who know astronomy will look at it in a different manner. For myself,I am truly enjoying my trip thru the heavens with this author!!

Perfect for Beginners

This book is fantastic for people who really don't know where to start when they are looking to even try to understand astronomy. My daughter asked for a telescope for her birthday and she got one and then she asked what to do next...point it up was my answer. I got this book to point me in the right direction and it did exactly that.

So Interesting

I recently invested in a telescope and I am so grateful that I found this book. There is more to star gazing than look up into the night skies. It helps you find your way areound.....yes, you need a map to get around up there too.

Great even if you're not a dummy!

My 11 year old grandson was insulted on Christmas when he opened this gift. He said he wasn't a dummy but later in the day I caught him reading it!!!!

Over priced

The only interesting part of the book in the first 69 pages. The rest in just filler. The author goes out of his way to demean folks interested in meteorites and micrometeorites. Study of the universe should not be limited to those that look through fancy telescopes.
