  • Terrible, Thanks for Asking
  • , she has captured the hearts of millions with her disarming and earnest approach to discussing grief and loss. Now, with
  • Bad Vibes Only
  • , she turns her eye on our aggressively, oppressively optimistic culture, our obsession with self-improvement, and what it really means to live authentically in the online age. In essays that revisit her cringey past and anticipate her rapidly approaching, early middle-aged future, McInerny lays bare her own chaos, inviting us to drop the façade of perfection and embrace the truth: that we are all—at best—slightly unhinged. Socrates claimed that the unexamined life is not worth living.
  • Bad Vibes Only
  • is for people who have taken that dictum a bit too far—the overthinkers, the analyzers, the recovering Girl Bosses, and the burned-out personal brand—reminding us that a life worth living is about more than just “good vibes.”

It’s ok to be you in this world

I found this book on audible. I hadn’t heard of Nora McInerney. The book sounded interesting so I hit play. It’s not a book in the traditional sense; it’s more of a series of essays on topics covering the best and worst moments of her life. She talks about bad bosses, good friends, biggest parenting mistake and the pain and isolation of her husband dying from cancer.
I must admit that in the beginning, I found this tough because it seemed very disjointed to me. But as she went on, I found the common threads of love, faith, family and friends woven throughout her stories. She never professes to be perfect and knows she never will be … no one is. She also injects humor into her stories.
I really enjoyed this book. I believe that we all have stories that have those teachable and relatable moments that Nora has so simply shared with the world. I recommend this book to everyone and I believe each reader will get something different from this book.
