I bought the whole series after falling in love with the anime! The manga is even better and there's more depth to it than the anime which I loved! Volume 1 was a great and really kicks off the story!

I read this within 2 hours of delivery. I am thrilled to finally have it for myself. I read these when I was in high school and my library didn't have all of them so I read them out of order, the anime was fantastic btw so now I've decided to indulge myself and buy them all its voulmes. It's so well written you'll come back to it more than once.

i loved the show so much so i decided to start the manga and it came in perfect condition, i love this series a lot so this was perfect

it's wonderful!! this story is wonderful!! It's about this mafia leader who kills this man, and the protagonist ash, meets the man and the man gives him some powder and says banana fish which incidentally, the brother of ash some time ago said the same thing after going crazy. The story is very good and addicting!!

This story is bull *** In the end it's about drugs, and gangs and ash dies, after everything he went through and very stupidly too, I might add...

Saw this manga at the manga museum in Kyoto , said it was one of the top mangas of the year when published . I read it as a scan , great story , fun read ( has some adult moments nothing graphic but not really for the younger set ) Had to have these books , got all volumes mostly used for really short money .

Writing this review to update on the quality/condition of the book. It came in great condition! No bumps or anything worth pointing out.
I heard this series is sad so I'm giving it a try because I like sad stories :)

While the story started out a tad confusing it got me hooked by 2 simple words Banana Fish! I know, I know, kind of a basic thought, but it is true. What the heck is it?

As the characters were introduced it started off a little slow, layering mystery and clues on top of one another deepening the intrigue, and by chapter 3 things took off like a bullet. With a bullet.

The art is obviously done in an older style (originally published 1985) but I feel that it matches the aesthetic of New York c.1985 very well.

Now I haven't watched the anime so I can't compare, nor would I. While both are Banana Fish I believe both should be judged by its own merit, it's hard to translate everything from book to show and back again without differences due to a myriad of ways.

I can't recommend this manga enough.
