Nice Introduction but.... 5E Edition Revisions

Overall this book is a "nice intro" into some of the creatures found on many of the worlds of Dungeons and Dragons. Be forewarned, the book is 5E revisions of somethings. D&D as a series covers several campaign worlds with some very specific creatures and personas, and it would be great if they identified what series or world they come from. Most of the art is really nice. Some creatures are also changed.....

Oni/Ogre Mage: Not the same thing.... over the years this creature has been usually an ogre who was skilled at magic. Oni are a type of Japanese mystical creature. This rendition is a 5E version.

Acerack: A legendary lich from Oerth, that has made his way to worlds beyond his... most notably recently in Abeir-Toril. Technically he is a power of a sorts... and was an odd choice.

Lord Soth: Another legendary character, but WAS from the world of Krynn. His status is that he has been killed off permanently and no longer active. There is no mention of his time as a Dark Lord of Ravenloft, or his demise when he was let go and accepted his FINAL judgement from the Paladine/Takhisis.
There are a host of other canonical Death Knights they could of used......

I know the powers that be at WOTC do not like consistency or continuity, but seriously... that is why there is officially licensed products. There are dozens of fan based wikis that have faithfully chronicled all of this. It is oversights like these that ruins a higher rating for the book.

Fun young D&D book

My 11 year old loves these young reader versions of D&D. Parents beware though there are a few pictures of scantily dressed female monsters that are not young kid friendly pictures in my opinion. I fixed it myself with some colored permanent markers and a bit of artistic skill you really have to look close to see that it's been altered.

Bad shipping book covered in grease.

The book contents are great, the poor review is for Amazon shipping, the book was covered in some kind of grease, luckily I was able to clean without damaging the book.
