Dissapointed

I have been devoted to the Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook for as long as I can remember. The 15th edition is not "the best edition yet." The most frustrating thing about this edition is that it is hard to navigate. My previous edition had colored tabs for different sections. Not so here. And someone decided to delete several great old recipes (either that or I can't find them in this edition). Newer versions of old recipes leave much to be desired. I recently made baked beans. The new recipe called for 1/4 C of Worcestershire sauce. You want to ruin a good pot of beans? Throw in an overabundance of Worcestershire. In addition, recipes for chicken and sausage gumbo, oatmeal cookies, applesauce/spice cake, and many others are either gone or radically changed. And sometimes the text is transposed over graphics that make it difficult to read. It's not a good version of a great old product.

Spiral bounds are not all created equally.

I bought this for my wife to replace a very old version of the same cookbook. I thought about getting her the ring bound and asked her which she would prefer. We mistakingly thought the spiral would be a wire spiral binding and that the book would lay flat if you opened it fully. Instead it is a cheap plastic binding comb type. I never heard of anyone calling this type of binding "spiral"

spiral |ˈspīrəl| adjective
winding in a continuous and gradually widening (or tightening) curve, either around a central point on a flat plane or about an axis so as to form a cone: a spiral pattern.
• winding in a continuous curve of constant diameter about a central axis, as though along a cylinder; helical.
• (of a staircase) constantly turning in one direction as it rises, around a solid or open center.
• Medicine (of a fracture) curving around a long bone lengthwise.
• short for spiral-bound: a spiral notebook.

This is definitely not spiral bound and I would not recommend this book. Buy the ring bound instead.

Bought this to replace an earlier version of the book we had that had fallen apart with usage. We were sad to see that some of our favorite recipes from the older book were not included in this one. So we've had to keep using our old one...

Beware of "spiral bound"

When they said "spiral bound", I expected it to be in a binder like my original one, this one is a plastic spiral, and smaller than the real spiral notebook type I have. I bought this as a gift and was dissapointed.
