Sooo nostalgic!!

I was just browsing Betty Crocker cookbooks & this caught my eye because it was simple recipes. When I opened it I noticed the old style print, pictures & recipes. I'm over the moon! This is actually THE cookbook my mom had so many years ago! I have been searching for it but I think she got rid of it long ago. I'm at excited I finally found this!
I will mention that it's written in the 1950s & is written specifically for & to homemakers. The verbiage it's even quite different but that's part of what makes it such an interesting classic.

back to basics

Love this with information and recipes from basic white sauces to varieties of meals and some things people today have never tried. Eggs Ala goldenrod I haven't thought of in years but it's here!

A little bit of everything

I love these recipes because there’s a bit of everything in there with normal every day ingredients and not too many of them.

Oldie but goodie

Simple recipes are helpful, but the tight small paperback format makes it very difficult to use. The original on which this book was based was larger and spiral bound so it would lie flat on the kitchen counter. For that reason I cannot recommend it.

The best cookbook I’ve ever owned

I love this cookbook so much. Yes, it does use some prepackaged products. But it does have some made from scratch recipes and loads of wonderful directions on how to cook and different variations of recipes. This book is exactly how my grandmother cooked. So much nostalgia. I just love it!

Vintage recipes

Fun vintage recipes and illustrations. This would actually be a good gift for a college student or someone who doesn't know how to cook. Simple recipes, some of which start with Bisquick or canned soup -- semi homemade. Basic American style recipes and ideas on how to enhance simple things like pancakes or fried eggs.

Had this cookbook many years ago

I bought this cookbook in the fifties and it has been gone for a long time.
I was so happy to see that it is still available so I purchased one and I am so glad that I did.
