Bad, bad book.

Well that was a painful read.
I would give this book 1 star, but it deserves 2 because the idea was interesting. And that's the only thing I liked. The rest is just... ugh... meh... eye roll... sigh...

What I disliked:
1. This book fails Bechdel test miserably. You don't know what Bechdel test it? Google it.
2. Bryce. O. My. God. I usually like boys POVs, but in this case it was just painful to read. The whole point of different POV chapters is so they'd be DIFFERENT. Here? Not so much. Bryce is constantly complaining, he's jus going with the flow, never doing anything that his jerk-of-a-father would disapprove. I hate characters that are just sitting, always waiting for stuff happen to themm. Bella Swan, I blame this on you!
3. Haley? You were meant to have a fake relationship. FAKE! Stop acting like a hurt princess every time the guy doesn't meet your expectiations. He didn't kiss you good night? Oh no! What a tragedy! Your fake boyfriend didn't kiss you on your fake date. Boo-hoo. Be glad he drove you home. I get it that Bryce is your crush but snap out of it! Have some dignity! Stop being such a doormat! Start being better friend to Jane.
4. Twin Brothers. I. Hate. Them. I get it that they supposed to bo those overprotective brothers. I totally get it. But they constantly wanted to punch either Bryce or every other boy. Creepy much? Is that how older brothers act? Not the ones I know.
5. The mom. Gosh. So hard to talk to your daughter? Really? You need to be mean to her and her boyfriend instead of, you know, TALK?
6. Everone in this book were shooting glares at eachother. It's like they couldn't just look. They just glared. "I'm giving you this super serious glare so you know I'm angry". Note for the Author: there are a lot of free online thesauri. Use them.
7. Language. Was this book written by a 12-year-old? Because the language indicated so. The characters were speaking and acting like a 10 or 11 year olds not 16 or 17.
8. Typos and bad grammar. It's not a self-published book so I expect that there will be some effort put into preparing it for publication.

You're thinking about reading it? Go for a walk instead.

Interesting! In a good way!

I received Blackmail Boyfriend by Chris Cannon from the publisher for review, and this is my honest opinion.

Blackmail Boyfriend is about a girl named Haley who is having trouble getting a boyfriend when her brothers make it their business to personally scare every guy away from her. When a rumor starts spreading around the school that she slept with the high school hottie she has to do something to kill the rumor fast.

The hottie of the school is referred to as Bryce, and Haley makes a “deal” with him to clear her name and keep her reputation clean. She basically tells him that since it is his fault the rumor is going around that he has to pretend to be her boyfriend for a couple weeks to kill the rumor and make her seem datable to other guys.

This book was incredibly interesting. I have read tons of sappy romance, love at first sight kind of books but this was the complete opposite. It was entertaining to watch Bryce struggle with his feelings for Haley that whether he wanted or not were creeping up on him. It was also sweet to see Haley’s best friend Jane to get together with Bryce’s best friend Nathan. I was not sure how that was going to pan out in the beginning but what did happen was on a happy note.

There was no one emotion in this book, it was very much an emotional roller coaster for Haley and Bryce. But hey, that is what makes a relationship and that is also what made them seem very real to me. I flew through this story a lot faster than I thought I would and that is simply because the plot, and the characters pulled me in and did not let me go until the last sentence had ended. I am very excited to read others books by this author in the near future!

Pretend to Date Young Adult Romance

**I got this from Entangled for my honest opinion**

Unfortunately this wasnt my favorite, but that's not to say I didnt like it! Overall, I couldnt bring myself to really root for the love interest. I felt like he had a lot of growing that he could have done, even after the end. I hope that he did. There were a couple times that I noticed perspective changes, which was a major issue because it was told from both POVs in first person. Each chapter focused on one perspective so the jump confused me.

The story itself was cute and I liked the romance enough to make me want to read more. I'm glad I got the chance to!

Angst Of Youth Combined with Humor

Excellent job of reflecting the angst that high school students encounter as they try to find themselves and establish their values while still providing a good read and humor
