Drumroll please...and fail
I love this series, but I have some serious problems with this book. I thought she was going good but for the ending. I mean really? It is so predictable. If you are going to end at a cliff hanger you might as well make it into something truly difficult to figure out. Don't give clues to the location, just end it with "she awoke cold and trapped. Darkness shrouding her in its thick cape of impenetrable black." That tactic was truly underhanded and very sloppy. If she had stopped at the end of the battle it would have been fine. But no, she had to put those last few paragraphs in a desperate attempt to give it an element of suspense. This latest addition to the series in my opinion does not hold a candle to the last few. The Green Rider series happens to be one of my favorites and I still recommend it without a doubt, but, I was not impressed with this fourth book. My suggestion wait until the fifth one is out to begin reading the series because by then you will be so excited to have the latest release that you will fly through the fourth book and not over analyze it like me.
Hands down, this is one of my favorite series and I highly recommend it to any fantasy lover.

Okay....not as good as the others
I loved the series from the very beginning. It is action packed and I like the way KB writes. It really sucks me into the book, with real emotions for each of the characters.
First I loved the action and the way Kristen approached the forbidden love thing between Zachary and Karigan. It doesn't overwhelm the book with too much drama to where it gets old. I hated how Zachary and Karigan didn't talk to each other as much as the last ones. With the rape scene, I have such low respect for that character, to where I wouldn't be sad if she died in the book, and I don't care that she was forced with it. But anyways, with that, I can't see Karigan and Zachary ever getting together. And when Karigan gets out of the problem from the end of the book (cause we all know KB won't kill off the main character) and when she returns to Sacor City, I think she is going to hate Estora since she gave the assassin permission to follow Karigan into Blackveil, even though she didn't know she put Karigan in danger. But Estora at this point is on my most disliked list.
I don't mind the cliffhanger in the end so much, but considering KB takes 3 to 4 years to get one book published, it can be a problem with losing a reader's interest. I really hope myself that by the time the next one comes out I don't forget what the whole series was about. I just think if a book takes that long to come out, a cliffhanger isn't the best idea. I think when Karigan went into Blackveil by the 400th page, that is when it did get a lot more interesting. She received more information about how much more in depth her "fading" ability can go, which again made it interesting, and even the Eletians realized what powers she really has.
Overall, I still enjoyed reading this book, even with some of it's fault points. I still revealed more information behind Karigan and her family's history. I just hope by the time the next book comes out I won't forget what the series was about.

Cliffhanger
I hate cliff hangers...there are no excuses for leaving so much undone. While this is not exaclty a literary masterpiece, it is a good story.

long wait
I have been reading this series since it came out and am happy with this installment overall. The storyline progressed nicely and we learned alot about the world and whats coming up. The main character grew a bit and learned more about what she can do with her skills. I love the way magic is worked into this world as not being overwhelming and not something people just learn to do totally easy. The main character has started out with just a few magic tricks and learned more about how its used with the help of some interesting characters. I love the green riders and the world. The history of the world is always something I enjoy learning about when its tossed in there with the story. If you want the love story to be a happy every after wonderful thing, I would skip this series of books and this one in particular. I guess my only real complaint is the amount of time it takes between books. I almost forget about the series by the time the next book is out then have to reread everything.

best book of the series
After reading several review here I was not looking forward to what I would find in this book. But I was most pleasantly surprised! I read this book twice as fast as any of the others because it had me so captivated. It started a little slow, but now I'm glad that we have the info she gave us there. There are several very important things that happened that I dreaded happening and was not happy that they happened, but they only helped to further the plot. I will never look at Estora with esteem again, but is that a bad thing like everyone else says? And I can't wait for the next book to find out why the author spent so much time on Amberhill. I still love Karigan and Zachary, I still hate Grandmother and Mornhaven. If you like the series, don't be scared to read this latest installment! I cannot WAIT for the next one to come out. The only thing I am disappointed in is how long we will have to wait...

The Green rider series makes me really excited. I have loved it since I read Green Rider back in high school and keep a close eye out for any new books that come out. An avid horseback rider, I am really picky about any of the "horse" books, but this one really nails it!

Wonderful book! Kristen Britain's stories are the best!
This tale is a wonderful edition to the Green Rider series! I have enjoyed every one so far and this one is no different. The book is well worth the money and I am anxiously waiting the next book in the series. This book is by far the darkest I think to date, but fits right in with Karigan's journey through the magical world she belongs to! These books are amazing and inventive and I would recommend them to anyone who loves Fantasy and books with strong female characters!

Blackveil: Book Four of Green Rider
I loved this book! Couldn't put it down even at 663 pages. I had read the other books in this series years ago and really looked forward to this one. for the reader who hasn't had the opportunity to enjoy the other books in this series, it is still a wonderful book as as stand-alone. Hope it doesn't take Kristen Britain another 7 yrs. to get out the next one. I want it now!
