Blondie McGhee: At Your Service

First of all, I love the cover art! Second, I thought the story was really cute and engaging. Both my nine year old daughter and her twelve year old brother listened as I read this aloud to them. Even their older two siblings listened in for part of the story. Shh. ;)

Both of my kids really enjoyed the story. They thought it was funny, loved the characters and their interactions, and enjoyed the detective story line. Whenever I made them wait for the next chapter, they begged for just one more. They are both looking forward to more stories with Blondie McGhee.

I liked how the characters worked out their issues with each other and there weren't any rude over the top behaviors. She didn't really like one of the kids, but she was more exasperated than anything with him. When he pulled a prank on her, she did get mad, but again, it wasn't nasty or rude.

Rather, in the end, she gave him the benefit of the doubt, solved the case, and both characters learned something along the way. I very much appreciate how Ashley handled everything in the story. Like my kids, I'm looking forward to reading more of Blondie McGhee's stories.

I recommend this as either a read aloud or for any child who enjoys reading chapter books.

gift and recipient loved story

This is a great book for kids, the easy to read words will draw them in and with a fun name like Blondie it will keep them reading and will keep their attention.

A delightful mystery for third and fourth graders. I especially loved the Fun Detective Experiments to Try, at the end. I found the tiny snippets of romance a little off for the target age range, but it was just a look here and some butterflies there, so it wasn't a big deal.
Fun chapter book. I really liked Blondie's clever and helpful personality. Recommended. :)

My 9 year old daughter loves this book! She read it in 1 day. She told me all about the story and was very detailed which is usually a good clue that she loves the book. Her first question was is there another one she can read! Definitely recommend this book.
