Cake Icing, Butt Budder and Tea Lids

This book is great! Funny throughout, entertaining, made me sorry when it ended. I avoid books with explicit sex scenes, and Renee Andrews hit exactly the right tone. Wonderful book. I'll be looking for more from Renee Andrews as soon as I finish this review.

This was one of the worst books I've ever read. The premise that a girl/women isn't whole without a man is ridiculous. The whole story is "finding the right man". And everything they do is to accomplish that. This sends the worst message to teenagers who may read this book. This book doesn't try to show a story of empowerment. It's just silly to write this kind of story for today's girls.
Second, there is nothing worse in a story then just adding in a "serious illness" or "tragedy", not to move forward the plot, but just becuase you need to fill time. This made the book even worse, if that's possible.
This is a book to definitely skip!!!

Recently discovered this book and after reading it went back and bought all she'd ever written.
This book starts out making one laugh and continues until the last page... however, there are many tender moments in the book! Mostly Cake Icing, Butt Budder and Tea Lids kept me laughing almost the entire time! It's one of those books that you can't wait to see what happens next but then are upset when it's over and there are no more pages. It is amazing to me, and a reflection of the authors gift and talent that even the most serious situations bring laughter. This book came at just the right time for me. It lifted my spirits... the entire evening and half day it took me to read it. I just could not put it down. Can't wait for the next one!!! Sure to please.

I loved this book! Not only did I find it charmingly entertaining and laugh-out-loud funny, but I also found myself loving the Thibodeaux sisters, from the very first page.

Our story opens with Edna humorously taking her sister, Delilah, to task about 'slacking' since she (Delilah) has taken a whole 18 hours out of their busy baking and decorating schedule to give birth to her daughter (Jezzie), and recuperate in the hospital afterwards, ESPECIALLY when there are still many orders to be baked and decorated. Newborn Jezzie is literally taken from the hospital and introduced to the bakery before she is even a day old!

We get to follow Jezzie's (Jezebel) journey from the day of her birth to her wedding day, and it is a wonderful journey since she does not lead a boring life...NONE of the Thibodeaux women do, nor do their friends for that matter...especially Daisy!

The characters in this book made me laugh out loud over and over. They amazed me, shocked me, and also broke my heart in a couple of bittersweet moments. But in true 'Steel Magnolias' meets 'Fried Green Tomatoes/Divine Secrets of the YaYa Sisterhood' fashion, we see these wonderful women, and the men who love them, stand back up when life tries to knock them down and keep them down.

THIS BOOK IS A MUST READ, and a KEEPER. I highly recommend this book to everyone! I am hopeful that the author will give us a sequel, because this one has left me wanting more , more, MORE!

It started off a little strange so I wasn't sure if I would like it. But I quickly began to enjoy the book and read it in 2 days! Lots of laugh out loud moments :)

Chick Lit, southern silliness, laugh-out-loud funny - no redeeming social statements, pure fun.

A light-hearted look at life in the South from a young girl's eyes. There are also some very touching moments and a look at some of the traditions and how they intertwine in people's lives.

I loved the cast of characters in this book. It was a window into New Orleans style living in an earlier time. It is about sisters, mother/daughter relationships and the love of an aunt. It was a lots of fun to read this romantic comedy.

Really enjoyed this book. Was a free download on my Kindle and the title had me interested. Was an easy read and flew right through it! I suggest it if anyone wants to have fun and read at the same time!
