if you loved Ms. Germain other books you will not be disappointed in this series. Cartel is the first of 3 books about the Gypsy Brothers motorcycle gang and what happens between the vice president Dornan, and Marianna. In order to save her mother, sister and brother, Ana agrees to become a cartel slave to save her family and is whisked away to begin her new life. Dornan, the bad guy you love to hate will come to her rescue, but at what price. Very exciting story as there are constantly things happening, kidnapping, murder, etc.

She has been on my TBR list for a while and this was a great series to start with

Wow what an introduction to a fabulous author. She has been on my TBR list for a while and this was a great series to start with.

This was a brilliantly written dark read by Lili, she has really woven a fantastic story that grabs you and keeps you hooked, unwilling to put your kindle down until you've finished. The characters she has given you really feel life like and you feel like you are in the rollercoaster horror show with them.

I loved the heroine Mariana, she is a tough firecracker, she's scared but she has a strength that you admire. She was brave and did what had to be done to keep her family safe. Dornan is the bad guy that you go back and forth between loving and hating. You just wish he was stronger then he was to actually save Mariana and give her the life and love she deserves. Dornan is a hardman, he does the dirty jobs, strikes fear into people and loves the blood, it appeals to his dark side. Having a father like Emilio gives him the outlet for his dark and twisty side.

The moment he meets Mariana though he wants to save her from the path his father has chosen for her. Unfortunately this only saves her from a life in the sex trade, Emilio can never know his feelings and empathy he has for Mariana.

This is such a tragic story of Mariana, she has everything ripped from her thanks to her fathers selfishness. It has an edge of hope and love which you hope can shine stronger through the darkness and violence.

I really found the relationship between Mariana and Dornan intriguing. With her he is slightly softer at the beginning, he does have feelings for her but she is still a prisoner, she's still locked up on his apartment. You can understand why she relies on him so much and thinks their relationship is love.

I haven't read the Gypsy brother series and I certainly will be now, you don't have to read it first as the Cartel series comes before the Gypsy Brothers.

I can't wait to see what happens in Kingpin next, you honestly can't tell which way this series will go with all the amazing twists and turns.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions...

A dark, gritty romance in which the main characters sacrifice their futures for the sake of loved ones. Mariana and Dornan are both outwardly privileged, but doomed to suffer the consequences of their fathers' life choices. Dornan attempts to turn his back on his father's criminal activities, only to return voluntarily in a futile attempt to save the life of his best friend's sister. Mariana offers herself as payment for her father's debt, hoping to save the lives of her family - but will her sacrifice ensure their safety? Dornan attempts to save Mariana from the fate his father has planned for her; Mariana attempts to save Dornan from becoming a monster like his father. Beautifully written, compelling story of a doomed romance. Haunting.
