Review Praise for The Joe Grey Series: “This is delightful entertainment. It would be a true cat-tastrophe if you let it pass you by.” — Todd David Schwartz, CBS Radio, Four Stars (Highest Rating) on Cat Coming Home Praise for Shirley Rousseau Murphy’s feline mysteries: “The book’s charm lies in the clever cats and the people they care about. This is a must read for those who enjoy the feline side of sleuthing.” — Romantic Times BOOKclub “Author Shirley Rousseau Murphy is, as always, a great storyteller. . . . After all this time, these books still are so much fun that they can’t be put down, cat lover or not.” — Suspense Magazine “Joe Grey and Dulcie aren’t your ordinary feline detectives. Murphy’s raised the stakes of the feline sleuth genre.” — Kirkus Reviews From the Back Cover When death pays a visit to his beloved coastal California town, the stakes are higher and more personal than ever for feline investigator Joe Grey in this charming mystery from award-winning author Shirley Rousseau Murphy It’s springtime in Molena Point and the close-knit seaside hamlet is overjoyed to welcome the arrival of three new residents. Dulcie has given birth to a trio of adorable kittens, two little boys as pale as sand and one winsome calico girl. While proud new father Joe Grey can’t wait to teach Buffin, Striker, and Courtney about the world, he wants to keep his precocious offspring safe from his detective work secretly helping solve crimes alongside his human friends at Molena Point PD. Though they’re bold and growing fast, the kittens are still innocent of the dangers of the outside world—including a ring of car thieves who have hit their village and a slew of small towns along the Northern California coast. The stakes are raised for Joe Grey, Dulcie, and their human companions when the local beautician and one of her customers are found murdered in the salon. Joe’s stealth, cunning, and superb instincts lead him and the police closer to the culprits. But the investigation is unexpectedly complicated when three curious young cats decide to take matters into their own paws—not knowing that a suspicious stranger is lurking around their home. To solve the murders, stop the gang of thieves, and keep their babies safe, Joe and Dulcie, along with their friends Kit and Pan, eagerly dig their claws into a hair-raising search that leads to unexpected connections—to the building of a new cat shelter, and a neighbor who suddenly becomes part of the tangle. Joe Grey fans will relish this delightful installment featuring their favorite feline detective and his growing group of family and friends. About the Author Shirley Rousseau Murphy is the author of twenty mysteries in the Joe Grey series, for which she has won the Cat Writers’ Association Muse Medallion nine years running, and has received ten national Cat Writers’ Association Awards for best novel of the year. Cat Shining Bright Shines

This latest Joe Grey mystery from Shirley Rousseau Murphy kept me reading until midnight because I didn’t want to close the book before learning the meaning of the murders. Unlike the previous books in this wonderful series which often have a few months’ gap in the characters’ storyline, Cat Shining Bright begins right where Cat Shout for Joy ends so we get to see the kittens' eyes open and hear their first words. Their carefully chosen words made me smile with wonder, laugh out loud, and sigh with contentment. They may even give clues to the cats that Buffin, Striker, and Courtney may become.
Joe and Dulcie juggle their new parental roles while still being great sleuths. Charlie Harper, the sheriff’s wife, discovers the victims and her feline and human friends are determined to find the murderer.
I especially enjoyed the return of Dr. and Mary Firetti, family of the late Misto from previous Joe Grey books and The Cat, the Devil, and Lee Fontana. They have joined the Damens and their friends in keeping these cats’ secret. And that is the essence of Cat Shining Bright—Family. The felines are all connected via their Celtic ancestry, and the humans are connected through friendships and marriages. Whether the characters wear fur or not, they care about each other. The future for this family by choice is bright, and I can’t wait to see what the kittens choose to do next.
Whether you are new to the series or have read every single Joe Grey mystery, this new feline adventure will be a welcome addition to your bookshelf.

THE KITTENS ARE HERE!!!!

Kittens, wedding, robbery and murder. Just another day in the life of talking cat Joe Grey. Yes a talking cat. His lady Dulcie has had 3 precious babies. One is a calico with 3 rings around her paw. This has a special meaning revealed later in the story. I would just love to have a talking cat. Can you image opening food and not having the cat look at you like what the heck is this? The mystery in the book is OK, but the main story is the kittens and how they affect life for their parents. They all have their own special gifts besides talking. The cats up at the Pamillon estate accept the kittens. The kittens figure into the solving of the car theft ring. The little girl kitten even gets to call Max with info about the case. I love these stories, but too many people are in on the secret (a new person is added). Pretty soon, the cats will run the town. If they only had thumbs. One other thing I really liked, I ordered the Harper Luxe version of the book. The larger text made it so much easier on the eyes. For a great escape and a good story about cats, buy the book. Would like to live in this little town. Not a hard mystery, but it will make you smile (especially if you are a cat person).

This is a mid-later books of the entire Joe Gray & Dulcie series, and they just get better....learning and inspiration jsut gets better.

BIG CLUE: START WITH "CATSWOLD PORTAL", WHICH PRECEDED THE JG/DLC SERIES, ALSO, BE SURE TO INCLUDE THE 2 "LEE FONTANA" BOOKS.

Excellent

I couldn't put it down, so much more entertaining with the kittens. I love how they also can speak. I hope the story line continues with the speaking cats with more cats added to the mix.
I would rate this book one of my top five favorites this year.

Talking Kittens Complicate matters

Shirley has come up with another mystery to be solved by Joe Grey. She expertly weaves into the story a bit of humor any parent can easily understand when the Dulce and Joe's kittens ignore mom and dad's orders or come up with their own interpretations of them so they can actively participate in solving the crime.
