Just read this!

This is one of my favorite publications from the pre-revolution American era and this is a nice little edition of it. This is NOT a large book but it's just the right size for how many words are in it. It's about 6 inches tall and a hand wide and less than a half inch thick but, it is an attractive leather binding. It's a nice little book to have around for display or reference. Paine would tell ya, "it is what it is" but we can always make it better if we try. ;)~

Perfect pamphlet size book

Perfect pamphlet size book. I have read it twice. It is clear why this pamphlet did more than any other publication during the days leading up to Independence to change people's minds. Paine was brilliant in providing the most compelling reasons to break from England.

I really wanted this pictured cover. I wanted a simple, quaint looking cover. Instead I got the paperback cover sticker on the hard cover. There really was no other way for them to screw it up. I already had the paper back. Dissapointing.

Achievable

As a child I wasn’t all that interested in history but as I grew older, a Hispanic child living and growing up Harlem witnessed racism firsthand and it made me curious and now I can’t get enough of history, “our history” and how “we the people” have more power with our voices and our votes than we can imagine. Knowledge is power!

Neat little book, interesting short read, binding is nice and stylish for nightstand. All in all a good little investment.

Surprisingly up to date

Even though this book has been written centuries ago it still has a lot of true in it which fits in current society. It's written as is with no regard for being politically correct.
Sadly enough this would be the reason why using this in school might cause a huge outcry unless it's seen in perspective.
I found it a refreshing read and I intend to let my kids read it too so we can talk about parts in it.
They then can learn to make an opinion about this for themselves and hopefully it will help them to become adults with common sense.

Common Sense for the Common Man

I really enjoy this book. I read it over and over and apply the philosophy to today's world. It is amazing that 237 years ago so many issues are the same as today in our country. Everyone needs to read this book. I hope that it could be taught as a sophmore or junior passes through high school because they reach voting age before they graduate and most know nothing about the great leaders of this country. Buy and enjoy.

A must have and read for all!!

This is a must have and must read. This is the book that sparked up the American Revolution against the King of England and was the first item that articulated what the colonies were already thinking about. This book provided basis and a initiative to Declaration of Independence, so anyone who enjoys or wants to know historical meaning of our nation, should have a copy.

every personal library should have this

Thank you National Treasure! does that make me a movie nerd? yes. But does that also mean that movies meant to entertain can provide curious minds with new *old* books that they might never have heard of in school or otherwise?! YES. It's hard to read because it's older language, with different wording and inflections, but as you go, and as you learn the vocabularies, the reading becomes easier, and honestly- common sense needs to be read by every generation. ALWAYS. There is an epitaph to Common Sense that circulates the internet, and frankly, after reading common sense, and understanding the inherent values that were being portrayed, I agree that we need to resurrect it.
