I feel like I'm taking crazy pills...

How are there only 7 one star reviews? In short, people like Tony despite everything he did. I can't believe this. I can't believe that he did a complete 180%, stopped being controlling and abusive. It's not possible. And I'm sad people buy into this. And everyone lives happily ever after...Gross. He should be in jail, Brent should have died, Claire should have been crazy and NO ONE should have forgiven these horrible people.
These reviews make me weep for the future...

Couldn't get into it...

I enjoyed the first book, and while the second book kept me interested, I had a difficult time understanding how Claire could give Tony another chance despite all he did to her. I just purchased the third and read the first 100 pages, and then gave up. It's just not keeping me interested, and I realize that I'm in the minority here. I couldn't relate to Claire whatsoever - in fact, I actually found her to be quite unlikable. I never warmed up to Tony - at all. He's a terrible person who inflicted unspeakable abuse on Claire, and she just folded to him because "he changed". Uhm, okay. Well, that's her choice, I guess. I just didn't like either of the lead characters, and that makes it really difficult to read and enjoy a novel.

One of the worst books I've ever read

There really needs to be a zero star rating. This was one of the most poorly written books I've ever had the displeasure of trying to read. I thought the first two were terrible, but this one really takes the cake. How many different descriptors can there be for eye color, and why do we have to read every last one of them? A well written book doesn't rely on the shades of eye color to tell the story. Let's not even talk about the despicable message these books sends to women everywhere. For those that are "Team Tony" how would you feel if your daughter suffered the kind of abuse Claire did? I, for one, hope that my daughter never finds these insipid books or if she does that she has enough sense to despise every character in them. If she doesn't, I'll have to look into her icy blue eyes and watch them change to sapphire as she comes to the realization that these are the some of the worst books in the world. Awful, dreadful, horrid.

An Insult and a disservice to battered women everywhere

I purchased all three of these books because I truly believed a 21st century female author would not allow her character to end up with a man who kidnapped, raped, nearly killed her and sent her to prison. He tried to ruin the little family she had and the friends who took her in when she had no place else to go. Clearly, they meant very little to her. I thought surely she was going to come to her senses and end up with Harry. I purchased this book as I read "Truth" because as it started to dawn on me in what direction the 2nd book was going, I still refused to believe an enlightened woman would write this outcome. I went to the end of this book and when I read that Claire was with Tony, I didn't finish the second book and I won't read this one. I am so sorry I spent money on this story line.

Women die every day because they convince themselves that brutal men really love them. For a female author to glamorize abuse and write and make a profit from this obscene fantasy is outrageous. I truly hope Ms. Romig has no daughters because her message to them is that as long as the sex is good, he buys you nice things and says he's sorry he can do anything he wants to you.

horrible just horrible

I seriously don't even understand how there can be so many 5 star reviews. I LOVED book 1 and 2 but book 3 was just well boring. So much back and forth, future, present, past very annoying. Did not like AT ALL!!

An offense...

Long and boring, having to skim and then who can be sympathetic towards a man that is OLD first of all, a schemer, violent, a stalker, kidnapper, rapist, killer, controller, conniver, and beyond evil. Who would go back to that after suffering what Claire did, unless they were just plain stupid and wanted abuse. Stockholm syndrome? Graphic or no, this was sick and offense to intelligent women.

The Truth Is Out There

Well, if you think you had it all worked out after reading Truth, I really have only one thing to say to you - GUESS AGAIN!! There's more shocks and surprises to come as Aleatha Romig finally puts all the missing pieces into the mix and brings it all together beautifully.

I have to that this whole trilogy is meticulously well told - the attention to detail is second to none. Convicted is not a book that you can skip or skim, there's so much information passing before you that you'll need to pay attention. It's got one of the most complicated and convoluted plotlines I think you're ever likely to read in the romance genre.

We start Convicted a few years after the final pages of Truth and the rest of the book tells the story either in the future or in the past leading up to how they got there. I wasn't expecting it so even just the title of the first chapter was a gasp out loud moment. It leaves you with a sense of foreboding - how did it happen, what happened to everyone and how on earth is this all going to end? I can honestly say that I had absolutely no idea which way Aleatha was going to take this one - I read with no small amount of trepidation.

Creating the character of Tony has been a masterpiece of mind altering writing - I have both loved and hated him as he's been both hero and villain to me. I don't think many authors can pull that off. Right back at the beginning of Consequences, he is absolutely a villain - he's a gorgeous, handsome smiling Adonis that masks the abuser beneath. I think it pays to read back to remind yourself just how awful Tony was and yet I came to think about the man with considerable affection. He was controlling, dominant, sadistic but, turns out, he can also be chivalrous and romantic.and he pulls off an amazing transformation over the three books that make up this trilogy and it is the love of Clare that does this to him but still he has done untold wrongs. He's abused Clare, robbed her of her liberty and free will and ruled her life with tyranny and fear. You might ask yourself how she could ever forgive him and put all of this behind her and move on with Tony and actually respect and love rather than fear him but she does. And, as a reader, manipulated by a clever author, I also turned myself around and started to will for these two to find a Happy Ever After despite how unlikely and impossible that seems.

Tony's not the only one who pulls off an amazing transformation either - Clare goes from meek, abused victim to a woman with cojones of steel, a woman who knows what she wants and take matters into her own hands and take incredible chances to ensure she gets what wants.

I'm trying very hard not to give the plot away here - there's so much I could say but that would only spoil the story for anyone reading and I so want for you all to experience this exactly the way the author intends. Convicted is a weighty tome with massive amounts of plot and backstory explained as everything is finally all pulled together and explained as we draw towards that final, pulsating, dramatic finish. Right up until the very end, I had no idea how the story would eventually conclude. I think Convicted probably has less shocks and surprises than Consequences and Truth but there's still some plot twists in store for you that I feel sure you won't have seen coming.

This trilogy really does offer something very different in the romance genre and, in that, I think it stands unique. It's dark, twisted, captivating, tense - a wholly engrossing read. I think you'd probably get the most out of reading all three books in a row and, at the very least, I'd recommend a quick reread of Consequences and Truth before embarking on Convicted.

So I think I give this one 4.5 stars and I wonder what on earth Aleatha Romig will do next!!

Aleatha... you a mad scientist!

Aleatha Romig you are a mad scientist of writing! I am completely obsessed with this series. I have begged, pleaded and used every book reading tactic to force everyone I know to read this series.

Consequences blew me away, I wanted to MURDER Tony. What a bastard! Then slowly but surely I fell for the schmuck in Truth. Truth was unlike anything I had every read. I didn't know if I was going up, down or sideways. With each revelation and page I was floored. My expectations for Convicted were high. With trilogies rarely are your expectations met. I can say without a doubt CONVICTED met and surpassed my wishes. No stone was left untouched or question lingered. Up until the 70% mark I had no idea where this was going but as always the pieces were slowly lined up and it all came full circle in the end. Reading the last page I felt relief, relief because I was holding my breath through almost every page. I couldn't have been more pleased once the cards were all laid out.

Bravo Aleatha... I have no clue how you conjured this world but I am glad you did. Enjoy the last installment on this 5 star series! The finale was true perfection. This by far is my favorite series and the only series where every booked was 5 stars. It's brilliantly written. Enjoy my reading friends.

Lacked the power of the first 2 books

I couldn't wait for this book - and after I started it, I sadly found it very easy to put it aside to read other books that interested me more. The new Tony was nowhere near as intriguing and exciting as the darker Tony. I understand that he had to change or else it would be hard to envision an HEA, but he lost his edge. Claire also regressed to a wimpier state, which made her less intriguing than the person she had grown into in the 2nd book. And Harry - who is this guy - he shares the same name, but has had a complete personality transformation.

The "action" - if you could call it that - was too drawn out and downright boring at times (hence why it was easy to put down). We already knew at the end of book 2 that Claire and Tony had made it to the island - why it took half the book to lead the reader back to the end of Book 2 is beyond. The flipping back and forth in time was annoying and at times confusing. The institutionalizatiion of Claire had big credibility gaps - the sister was dictating treatment (when did she get her MD), and the author was delivering treatment (again, where did she get her MD).

Everything got tied up very neatly. Didn't see the Amber thing coming, but then all the California characters underwent DRAMATIC transformation for some reason. This series was a lot more fun when the main characters were dysfunctional.

CONVINCED!

This book was a 5 star finish to a 5 star series. It was a thrilling, emotional journey until the very last word. Aleatha's writing takes you places you thought you would never be able to go. Read it. You'll be glad you did.
