Nice book to display but the “buttercream” recipe is not a win.

Update... This book has gone in the trash.. I’m not going to let a bully take up any room on my bookshelf.

Being a local to the area of Jenny Cookies Bakeshop and a hobby baker, I hear a lot about Jenny Cookies. After trying her cookie & “butter”cream recipe.. I am not sure why people are so obsessed over them

I made a batch for friends and coworkers following Jenny’s advice to use Imperial Margaine. They instantly knew that this was not my normal recipe and made their dislike very clear...

I personally thought the frosting was greasy and had no taste, it really does not compare to traditional buttercream or buttercream/shortening recipe when you need your cookies to crust.
In the end I confirmed what I already knew... Nothing can replace a good quality butter in your buttercream recipe.

Todays Imperial Margaine is now about 53% vegetable oil (margine by defitinion must be 80%) - So if there is no "butter" in your buttercream, can you actually call it a buttercream frosting? and if your butter substitute isn't even a margarine.... Should it be called spreadcream frosting?

I do like the ideas for buttercream add-ins. Some of photos will be nice if I need some inspiration but it is nothing I could have gotten for free online

VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS BOOK especially after all the hype it got!!!!

Not sure why so many high reviews?? I baked her "famous" cookie recipe several times and had my coworkers, my husbands, and family members coworkers try them, as well as our immediate family members and EVERYONE (much to our surprise that it was so anonymous) came back with the same opinion, the cookies were NOT GOOD. They were more cake like in texture, VERY bland in flavor, and left mouths feeling dry and needing a beverage after eating them. Very disappointed in this book after all the hype about this person's cookies being "the best". And then I tried the frosting recipe (which is made with margarine and vegetable shortening, yuck!!!) but made it exactally how she directed with the ingredients she directed and yeah that was disgusting! I just don't understand how these cookies get such rave reviews, I must be missing something! For me this book is getting returned and I would not recommend it. And for her saying this is a no fail recipe, well hate to say it but YES they failed for us.

Hands down best purchase I’ve made in a long time!

[[VIDEOID:a4d6a54beccd8eef2fd687edde3b48e0]] I CAN NOT say enough good things about this cookbook! Jenny has made it 100% fail proof to make decorated sugar cookies! The recipes are simple and the decorating is very easy to follow. My book was delayed a bit via amazon but honestly the book is worth the wait!

I am not a baker in any way shape or form. I am not going to lie I was a little apprehensive when purchasing this book because I have had many cookbooks and tried to make many cookies and it’s usually an epic fail so I figured why would this be any different...? Well I’m excited to say it was. I was able to make Halloween sugar cookies that everyone loved. They looked and tasted great and people actually wanted to eat which is a big deal when it comes to me and baking! Lol.

I’m am beyond excited now to be able to make sugar cookies for any and all occasions.
Thank you Jenny for making the cookie class cookbook and inspiring us non bakers to give it a shot!

The only cookie decorating book you need!

After moving away from WA, I was sad I never got to attend a cookie class by Jenny while living there. When she announced this book I knew I had to order it right away. What a beautiful book! It is organized by the four seasons so the designs are easy to find. The instructions are straight-forward and easy to follow. Jenny breaks down the processes to get her perfect sugar cookie dough and buttercream frosting. I love that she added a section on how to add extra flavor to the dough and frosting. I can’t wait to decorate some cookies and give away to friends this holiday season!

You NEED this.. if you are on the fence BUY it!

I ordered this book on preorder and I just received it and it is perfect! I make a lot of royal icing cookies but wanted a good buttercream recipe! The dough and frosting recipe are amazing and she has such cute ideas. I love the variety of designs and tips used and something for everyone! There are plenty of ideas for those with not a ton of baking background and ideas for those who know what they are doing! This is by far my favorite amazon purchase of October!

Overrated

If you’re a total beginner maybe this book is for you. I’m not a beginner and I think the book is overrated. The recipes are alike to many online and the designs can be found on YouTube. Save your money not worth it, imho.

I have had the amazing pleasure of attending one a Jennys amazing cookie clases where I was so blessed to have her personally sign this amazing recipe and how to book. I have bought several of these books and added a few of the most common decorating tips with some fun cookie cuttes and put them in fun crates and decorative baskets they made great gifts for my friends, dinner host for the holidays and even our local school auction. Who doesn’t love a delicious adorable sugar cookie. This is a must have!

Amazing book, disappointing shipping

I soooo love this book! I preordered back in June but the only reason why I am leaving this review is because I received my book 3 days late! That is absolutely unacceptable as a normal preorder guarantees you get it to your house the day of release.
