... into buying that the abuse is justified "because I love you" and "you can't get along without me" this ...

If you think emotionally abusive men who manipulate women into buying that the abuse is justified "because I love you" and "you can't get along without me" this book is for you. The main character struggles constantly to find her foothold as an adult while an old family friend insists that she loves him and must marry him. He is autocratic, manipulative, rude, dismissive, and frequently abusive. By the end of the book she admits that she is a fool, and that he is right about everything and gives up her independent life to be his little woman. I read a lot of romance and I'm all about big strong men who are protective, and even possessive, but I've never read such a load of chauvinistic crap in my life. Every other romance I've ever read the woman has some redeeming characteristics that the man recognizes. I kept reading this book because I was certain that the author was going to redeem the male lead. I was so sure there would be a moment when he realized he was unfair, manipulative, and was totally out of line but it never happened. Instead, the woman's will was finally broken and she admitted that everything that had happened was her fault. This book reads like a how-to guide for serial abusers and I'm shocked that it has such good reviews.

Don't waste your time!

This book was so uneventful, repetitive, and boring that I couldn't keep interested in reading it (or should I say listening to it because I downloaded the audio version from the library. Nothing happens, just the same old comments about Luke wanting to marry her, her not wanting to marry Luke,...over and over and over again. My husband is so tired if hearing me complain about the book he said "write your review and don't waste your time trying to finish it". I keep hoping something interesting will happened but half way through the book now and it's still as uneventful as ever.

COUNTRY BRIDE by Debbie Macomber is another great love story. Luke Wheeler has been the manager of Kate Logan's father's ranch for ten years. This whole time he has been infatuated by Kate unbeknownst to her. Then one day at a wedding Kate has had a bit too much champagne and asks Luke to marry her. This is what he has dreamed about and he isn't about to let her out of this. She asked and he said yes. A must read to follow these two on their road to a HEA.

WOODROSE MOUNTAIN by RaeAnne Thayne is RaeAnne at her best. Evie Blanchard has moved to Hope's Crossing to forget all her pain. She is a physical therapist but has decided to follow another career path. Brodie Thorne's daughter was in a horrific accident that left her in a coma for three months. Now she has to learn how to live all over again. Brodie talks Evie, against her better judgement, into being Taryn's therapist until he can find a permanent one. She agrees to give him two weeks. A lot can and did happen in those two weeks. I know you will enjoy watching Evie and Brodie dance around each other.
