*** She Did It Again ***

RaeAnne Thane has done it again with The Path To Sunshine Cove. Rachel and Jess are sisters with two very different personalities. Rachel is outgoing with the perfect life. She has her loving husband and three children. The recent diagnosis of their youngest, son Silas, being autistic has Rachel reeling. She has been so determined to be perfect in all aspects of her life. She doesn't know how to let anyone help even her husband. Because of this there are cracks starting in her marriage.

Both sisters had a very troubled childhood but each were left scarred in a different way. Jess is happy and carefree on the outside. Inside she has closed herself off to any relationship so as not to get hurt. If she doesn't care too much she won't feel any pain. All of this went by the wayside when she met the Whitakers in particular Nate. She felt for all of them but mostly for Nate. She knew she couldn't possibly do anything about this and would forget about him when she left. A few kisses didn't mean a thing. Her job is to help others downsize their homes as they move on to the next chapter in their lives. This leads to her doing a lot of traveling which she does in her pickup pulling her Airstream behind. When it comes time to leave as she pulls out of the Whitakers she feels a pain in her heart she had never felt before.

This was such a heartwarming story. Of course there are tears to be shed but there are also smiles to be had. Once I started this book I literally could not put it down until I finished it. (the joys of retirement). I loved every minute of it and really didn't want it to end!

The perfect beach read! I want to visit Sunshine Cove!

The Path to Sunshine Cove fills your beach loving heart right from the start with this adorable title! I mean look at that cover, swoon worthy! With all of these travel restrictions in place many of us will not get to dip our toes in the sand, so why not read a book that will take us on a little vacation to the cove!
Eleanor knows it’s time to go through her home and let go of items she’s been holding onto too tightly. Clothes, books, furniture is all she has left of her soulmate, but she realizes all she needs is her memories and must call in help to purge a lifetime of “stuff”.
Jessica works for a company called Transitions that helps people make the hard decisions on what to keep, donate, and toss when they are downsizing. Jessica travels all over in her trailer setting up her home for a few days to help families and then move on to the next. The work is hard and at times emotional, but moving every few days helps her to stay disconnected, as she prefers all her relationships to be. Living in foster care as a child and going on to serve in the military she’s always pushed her feelings down and learned to rely only on herself.
When a job comes up in a little sea side town she’s excited because this job will give her time to spend with her sister Rachel whom she hasn’t seen in years. She has really bonded with sweet Eleanor over the phone and is looking forward to helping her clean her home one room at a time, and spend time with her nieces and nephew. Her sister seems very overwhelmed and unhappy and Jessica would love to help out a little while in town.
What she doesn’t expect upon her arrival is how gorgeous Sunshine Cove is. From her trailer she can see the ocean, hear its crashing waves, and smell the salty air. All is right with the world until Eleanor’s son Nate comes over treating her like a criminal or some kind of opportunistic person who takes advantage of the elderly! Apparently Eleanor hasn’t told her son the news that she’s ready to part with his fathers items and maybe even sell his childhood home!
So many changes to come for Eleanor and a Jessica, you’ll need to read the book to find out for yourself!

Family, forgiveness and healing in Cape Sanctuary

Once Rachel and Jessica Clayton where close as can be as sisters but then life caused them to go n different directions and now Jess makes a living helping others downsize because as she knows from experience, less is better. As she takes a job in Cape Sanctuary, she hopes to see her sister Rachel and her family there even as she dreads it. Once she protected her little sister but the years haven’t made a dent on the guilt she feels after her parents deaths caused such hardship for them both.

Rachel is determined to have the perfect life, the perfect marriage and do it all. But with a child who is disabled and a marriage where she finds herself failing at, Rachel is at the breaking point and perfection is not in reach. As Jess and Rachel navigate being a family, Rachel knows from experience not to count on Jess to much as Jess never did family at all. But as Jess finds herself becoming attached to her client and her family as well as getting to know her sister and her family again. Maybe both Jess and Rachel will see that perfection isn’t as cracked up as it is and sometimes family means messy and lots of love. Can both the women find a way to move forward or will they go their separate ways?

THE PATH to SUNSHINE COVE is the next standalone novel in RaeAnne Thayne’s Cape Sanctuary series and one I find highly entertaining. With a mix of unique and intriguing characters that make up the small town, I find myself drawn into the world Ms. Thayne created and long to visit all the wonderful places she describes in the books. In this newest installment, we meet Rachel and Jess, sisters torn apart by tragedy and missteps. Each has a view of their past and present that just might not be all that there is to say about it. Guilt at not being perfect is causing Rachel to be so worn down that she doesn’t have energy for anything else, least of all her husband. Jess is determined to be footloose and fancy free because getting tangled up isn’t safe for her or her heart. But in Cape Sanctuary, healing can begin even when you don’t go looking for it. I loved how Jess and Rachel can reconnect more deeply as they work through their issues and find that the past doesn’t always have to lead their present and future. Sometimes to move on, you need to settle the past and let it rest before you can go forth to new adventures. The story flows so seamlessly I was caught up in it that I forgot to eat or even grab a drink. I wanted to see what would happen next for everyone there. Plus, I loved seeing the past characters from the first two books (The Cliff House and The Sea Glass Cottage) show up and move the story along as well.

What I genuinely enjoyed about this book was how much Jess and Rachel grew as a person and figured out what they needed from themselves as well as from each other for them to continue a relationship. It made me happy to see how much these two main characters went through in order to get to where they were at the end of the book. With each book this author puts out, I am finding a wealth of enjoyment in the setting she creates as well as the highly entertaining and beautifully written characters that populate them. If you are looking for a heartfelt story full of highs and lows, laughs and tears then then this is a perfect book to enjoy. I do recommend making sure you eat first, grab a drink or two and settle in because Ms. Thayne will tear your heart out then shove it back in with a smile on your face at the end of the book. I can’t wait to see where she goes next in the Cape Sanctuary series and who might show up next there in need of healing.
