Creative Haven VICTORIAN HOUSES ARCHITECTURE COLORING BOOK by A.G. Smith (2016)

This is a really nice coloring book with some very intricate details, so I would definitely only recommend it for teens and adults. Like every other Creative Haven coloring book I've bought the pages are white, one sided, moderately thick, and perforated for easy removal.

Please note however that some markers still bleed over onto the next page. I use Bic "Marking" fine point pens and this happened to me. Therefore you may want to stick a sheet of paper underneath first or remove the page altogether before starting. I'm sure this is not the case with all markers, but I would suggest testing them before beginning outright.

And while I love some of these illustrations more than others, all are lovely nonetheless. Twenty-nine of the images were previously published in VICTORIAN HOUSES (2001) and the remaining two images were originally published in THE AMERICAN HOUSE STYLES OF ARCHITECTURE COLORING BOOK in 1983.

What's really interesting about this book though is the short caption about each house that's printed in light gray on the back of each picture. For example, one of my favorites (and I'll upload the photo) is of a Gothic Revival. It's an 1840s villa in the Pointed style located in Albany, New York. The design is by A.J. Davis (1803-1893) who was known his Greek and Gothic Revival homes.

Overall this is a very detailed and well thought out coloring book. The fact that each house depicted is of an actual structure is the real treat though in my opinion. Although I love anything historical, notably 1890s or earlier, the Victorian era is one of my absolute favorites and the architecture is one of the reasons why. So I appreciate this book not just for the coloring but the historical information provided too =)

Great Creative Haven book - as usual.

This Creative Haven book seems to be a re-packaging of an earlier Dover book of similar name. If you have the Dover Victorian house book you may want to take a closer look to make sure you are not buying the same thing with a different cover. There are over 30 Victorian houses to color, all from the outside. The paper is good quality with single sided images - though there is a bit of information on each house on the reverse side. The pages are perforated for easy removal. If you like coloring architecture, this is a book for you.

Nice book and fun to get the imagination going

This is a nice colouring book. The images look good and aren't blurry and the pages are single-sided so you can remove them without destroying another picture. It is interesting to see where the houses are located (it tells you on the back of each picture.) These are fun to colour as you imagine how they might have looked in days gone by. Kind of like doing your own restoration project. I'd recommend this book to other customers.

Based on real life houses

I didn't think I'd get a history lesson and something to color at the same time! On the back of each page it has the name of the house, location, year built and a little description of the house. My goal is to Google what each house looks like and color the house exactly as it is. I really love this coloring book, the houses are gorgeous

Well Drawn - Love It

This a a great coloring book for those of us who love Victorian houses. The paper is good quality and the designs are nicely detailed and finely drawn so that they don't deteriorate into black blobs as in so many of the coloring books. Almost all of the designs in this book are really good, another rarity. I will color most of these and hope for another book like this.

Interesting drawings with lots of architectural detail

Very nice drawings. Many of the images are of brick houses, and I'd like it better if there were more wooden. I'm also not a big fan of coloring people, and many of these images include people. The paper has a nice thickness to it, so if you are using markers, there's less bleed through to the next page.

This book is great. Want to sure since I bought it without reviews but I was pleasantly surprised on the many different pictures. I also love that on the back of each one tells you the kind of home it is or if was a famous home. Enjoy!!

Great book

This is probably one of my most favorite coloring books. I love coloring in architectural drawings, and these are some of the best. I've actually almost gone through two of them, using different colors and shading every time. Well drawn pictures. I like to research original houses and try to color them in as they originally looked.
