Description

About the Author Deborah Burger is the author of Crochet 101 and How to Make 100 Crochet Appliqués . She learned to crochet from her grandmother at age 12. While she has found enjoyment in many fiber, textile, and other art forms, crochet remains her lifelong favorite. She has been teaching crochet for more than 20 years, through Girl Scouting, various community centers, summer camps, at Charlotte’s Fibers (a yarn shop in Western North Carolina), and the John C. Campbell Folk School. She is active in the online community, Ravelry, and has written articles and patterns for Interweave Crochet and the e-zines, Crochet Insider, and Crochet Uncut.

Ok, but....

The book is ok but it needs a bigger section on how to decrease on multiple types of stitches/patterns. I had to go to YouTube to find out how to decrease on a C2C pattern for a blanket. The projects are boring. It teaches you the pattern but the projects could've been better.

Little confusing

Had a hard time following the directions. Confused me. I bought another that was easier for me. Didnt use it to learn but liked some of the projects in it.

It is vague on how to read a pattern

It did not teach me how to read the pattern. Looks like short hand to me

Perfect for a learning to follow a crochet pattern

I've crocheted for years but either did what I knew or kind of winged it with a pattern. This book is helping me to read more complicated patterns and my projects are turning out better.

Great resource and good projects to hone your skills

I have known how to crochet for years, sporadically making projects. I found this book to be excellent to brush up and hone my skills as a crocheter. The instructions are easy to understand and the pictures are very helpful. I wish I had it years ago when I started to crochet.

Videos are all private

The videos that the book says you can view and follow along with while learning crochet are all “Private.” If anyone buys this book expecting to watch the videos alongside it, then know that they are no longer available. Disappointed.

Adults to crochet

It is a great book for grown ups. I was hoping to teach my granddaughter with good pictures.

Not Kindle friendly.

I managed to download this book to kindle after many tries. Unfortunately, even though the content is no doubt helpful, it would be advisable to buy the book. In a day where there are so many good lessons on Youtube I would imagine the author would have to do more than what she has done to earn 5 stars
