Description

From the Inside Flap From the author who predicted . . . A kamikaze attack on the U.S. A war with Saddam The death of Yasser Arafat Iran's nuclear threat against Israel Joel C. Rosenberg's "New York Times" best-selling novels have an uncanny way of coming true. The first page of his first thriller, "The Last Jihad," put readers inside the cockpit of a hijacked jet, coming in on a kamikaze attack into an American city . . . but it was written nine months "before" September 11, 2001. As "Jihad" unfolds, an American president finds himself at war with Saddam Hussein over terrorism and weapons of mass destruction . . . but it was published five months "before" the actual war with Iraq began. Rosenberg's second novel, "The Last Days," opens with an attack on a U.S. diplomatic convoy heading into Gaza, the death of Yasser Arafat, and radical Islamic terrorists trying to seize the West Bank and Gaza. Two weeks before it was published, a U.S. diplomatic convoy was attacked in Gaza. . . . thirteen months later, Yasser Arafat was dead. . . . and then Hamas seized control of Gaza. In "The Ezekiel Option," a dictator rises to power in Russia, an Iranian leader vows to annihilate Israel, and Russia and Iran form an unprecedented military alliance. Then, on the very day the novel came out, Iran elected a new president who vowed to accelerate his country's nuclear program. Four months later, he vowed to "wipe Israel off the map," and then Russia agreed to sell Iran $1 billion worth of high-tech weapons. In "The Copper Scroll," an ancient scroll describes unimaginable treasures worth untold billions buried in the hills east of Jerusalem and under the Holy City itself-treasuresthat could come from the Second Temple and whose discovery could lead to the building of the Third Temple and a war of biblical proportions. . . . One month after Rosenberg's fourth novel was released, "Biblical Archeology Review" published a story describing the real-life, intensified hunt for the treasures of the actual Copper Scroll. In "Dead Heat"-"the final novel of the series"-readers will be left breathless as Rosenberg embarks on his most exciting and heart-pounding ride yet, a political thriller that will leave you wondering . . . "Could it happen?. . . . Can we stop it?" The stage is set for war. Oil prices are surging to record highs. Oil prices are surging to record highs. A new dictator is rising in Iraq. A new dictator is rising in Iraq. China is threatening Taiwan. China is threatening Taiwan. North Korean forces are ready to strike south. North Korean forces are ready to strike south. Israel is feverishly trying to complete the Third Temple. Israel is feverishly trying to complete the Third Temple. And in the midst of a world ready to explode, American president James MacPherson’s second term is ending. The battle to succeed him is heating up into the most fiercely contested presidential election in American history. Who will lead a bitterly divided country over the next four years? And just what role―if any―does the U.S. play in history’s last days?As the presidential campaign narrows into a dead heat, the Secret Service learns of a catastrophic terrorist plot to assassinate one of the candidates―but which one? Who do they want dead? And can U.S. forces stop the terrorists before millions lose their lives?

The "end"...?

This was the first book in a long time where I actually put off reading too fast it because I didn't want it to end. I loved this book from start to "finish". I say "finish" because I keep hearing that this is the last book in the series but I hope it isn't. Joel did leave the ending open in the spirit of `The Lady or the Tiger'. This book had the classic storytelling of Joel written all over it. The pace is non-stop, the destruction is great and brutal, the enemies are satanically evil, and the "point-of-no-return" world changing events are jaw dropping!

This was a magnificent "ending" to a MAGNIFICENT SERIES!! I was wary about reading it because I didn't want to be hit in the face with "Jesus said this" and "Jesus said that" but Joel didn't do that. Does this series have an obvious religious message? Absolutely. And I'm ok with that; I just don't like being preached at. In `The Ezekiel Option' we find out that God destroys Israel's enemies and thus starts the prophecy about the end of the world. `The Copper Scroll' continues this and in this book I was wondering how in the world he would write it and how it would "end". This was a very, very good read but as I got to the end I was wondering how it would wrap up. There was so much story left and I was running out of pages!! That is why I'm hoping that this is NOT the end of the series because...well... I don't want it to be! :-)

I loved how Joel put pieces of the apocalypse in the story and you literally have to go back and re-read it because you're like "huh?, what?". It must have taken me as long to read the final few chapters as it did the whole book because of everything that was going on and because of the magnitude of everything going on. But Joel has a way of writing so that the story isn't crowded with all the action and angles. This book is very, very sad because some of my friends that have been with me since book #1 have some very bad things happen to them and people around them. Joel tells the story and does not spare anyone when the story called for it. This book is also pretty brutal and cut-throat. The violence is high but not gratuitous. The bloodshed is here but it's doesn't drive the story.

This is Joel's fictional account of the last days based on teachings that have been around for over 2,000 years and it's equally fascinating and frightening. Religious or not this series needs to be on your list.

Terrible

The description of this book leads you to believe it is a political story about a contested presidential race. It is nothing of the kind. It is a religious rant about apacolapse and the rapture. The characters are unbelievable and the story absurd. Don't waste your time and money.

Dead Heat Dead Book

This was a gift and I tried to get into it. I don't mind the religious stuff if it held together and contributed to the plot, but it doesn't. The characters are so unbelievable I wonder where he conjures them up. The interactions with heads of state and dialogue show how little he knows of such things. When he keeps addressing the PM as MR. prime minister reveals his naiveté with foreign leaders. I was waiting for him to address the Pope as Mr. Pope. I think he just phoned it in. Certainly doesn't rank as page-turner, or a religious tract. The Billy Grahams and Joel Osteens know how to tell a story. Rosenberg does not.

Jews and Jesus

I haven't read Rosenberg's other books in this series, but this one is certainly enough to get his thrust. It is full of religious conversions to Jesus and has all the usual Israeli suspects - Iraq, Iran, and North Korea.

As far as prescience is concerned, he could pick up a lot of his ideas from old Tom Clancy novels.

The book would be a lot better without the "Come to Jesus" theme, but, then again, that theme and scaring his readers with what the Arabs plan for Israel is what this book is about.

Loved it...a real "page turner"!

Joel Rosenberg's writing style is unmatched! I am especially moved by his writing about current events in the middle east (and the world at large) from a Christian perspective, his "third lens of Scripture."

Disapointed

I felt this was nothing more than a sci-fi book and not up to the standards of the previous books in the series. I couldn't finish it. Very disappointing from such a good author.

Good Fiction

This book was hard to put down and it kept me on the edge of my seat. As of today, (6/9/09), this is the latest in Joel Rosenberg's fiction series on the end times.

This story line takes place during a presidential election period in the United States and concerns an act of terrorism on the homeland. I hope this never comes true.

He has a new non-fiction book out called Revolution.

One Plausible Outcome ~ Sad & intriguing at the same time.

I started Joel's series because I'd read Epicenter. This entire series rocks with focus, twists and turns, and incredible insight ~ both real from study, and imaginative "what if" scenarios. No matter what your belief system is ~ consider keeping up with Joel.
