  • A: You mumbled on the first part of that and I couldn't understand what you were saying. Could you repeat the question?
  • Q: I mumbled, did I? Well, we'll just ask the court reporter to read back what I said. She didn't indicate any problem understanding what I said, so obviously she understood every word. We'll just have her read my question back and find out if there was any mumbling going on. Madam reporter, would you be so kind?
  • Court Reporter: Mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble.

A great read and very funny too!

When I decide to review a book, I try to pick subject that interest me and law is one of those subjects. This book has very little to with the practice of law and very much to do with the lighter side of the law. It will entertain you for hours as you read through the pages.
In just over 250 pages you will find some of the funniest things ever said in a courtroom. You'll read what lawyers; witnesses, jurors, judges, defendants and plaintiffs have said if you pay attention you'll find yourself on the ground laughing.
A book that took just one hour to complete from cover to cover has provided a very bright start to the New Year. The sidesplitting questions and answers are sure to make everyone laugh. A certain must have for everyone in the legal field.
Written by a practicing lawyer and taken from actual court transcripts you'll get a first hand look at not so serious side of the system of jurisprudence. Congratulations on a job well done! This book makes a great gift for those hard to buy people as well.

The snippets I've seen sound good

Haven't read the whole thing. But some quotes from the book are circulating on the net. Samples:
Q: Do you know if your daughter has ever been involved in the voodoo A: We both do. Q: Voodoo? A: We do. Q: You do? A: Yes, voodoo.
Q: You were not shot in the fracas? A: No, I was shot midway between the fracas and the navel.

A Huge Disappointment

Had heard a few excerpts quoted from this book, which attempted to convey the impression it would make for enjoyable, humorous reading.
About all I actually found in its pages featured long, boring descriptions of cases depicting ego-maniacal lawyers and prosecutors hurling malicious, obscenity-laden insults at one another or the Court.

I guess the longer version was "Overruled!" ???

This little book is neat. It's filled with funny cartoons and descriptions of the unexpected replies to questions given by persons under sworn examinations in courtrooms as seen and heard by the author in his career in the legal system. It is just one of a whole series of such books in the same vein by this author and others who have experienced the same situations. It is a small book...and a bit pricey for what you get, though you do get a few really good laughs! I just wish that a few of these numerous books had been collected into a larger work in length and size format. That would gain the extra star in my evaluation! As it is, the book is small and too short once you start enjoying it!

Funny One

I love to read or hear stories of people's mistakes, not so much because I like to laugh at people, but because it makes me feel better about my own mistakes -- I know I'm not alone.
I did enjoy this book generally, but I have to say that I was quite disappointed in the number of exchanges included that were off-color and/or foul-mouthed. I know that in many ways this just reflects people in real life, but this is precisely why these aren't so funny. It's the things that are out of the ordinary that that catch me off guard and make me laugh.

very funny!

This book is hilarious! Some of the snippets have a bit too much legal jargon, and it is a little easy to get confused if you are not familiar with normal court proceedings, but for the most part it is easy to understand. I've been meaning to buy this book for a year after seeing excerpts and I'm so glad I did!

Great Fractured (WITH DEEP FISSURES!!!) Moments In Courtroom History

This book is GREAT!!! Not only in content, but in construction!~!~! It is NOT one where you have to sit and continue through the whole thing at one time. Just bits and pieces at a time are great because some people don't have the time to consume the entire book! You don't loose anything reading it that way. . . . Waiting on the sequel!

Hilarious to the max!!!

This book was bought as a gift to my father-in-law since he mentioned that he has not been reading much when he retires.
I saw some excerpts from Facebook recently and was totally enthralled by the stories - I even 'share' the stories with my husband in FB. It finally dawned on me that my father-in-law would enjoy this book since it's an easy read and makes you laugh at the seams. My father-in-law called to thank me for the book since he found it totally hilarious and he was able to finish reading within 30 minutes. He intends to share it with his brother-in-law, a retired lawyer whom will start laughing too.
A fun read and a great gift!
