Excellent book!

This was such a great book! The strength Elle and her whole family show throughout this journey is truly inspiring. Elle was very young when she was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes and her journey has not been an easy one. I could relate to the mama bear coming out in her mom as she had to continually fight and advocate for her daughter through the years. She had to fight with insurance companies, doctors, hospitals etc... but she never gave up! I too had medically fragile children and so I know how hard it is to not only be fighting for your child's life but on top of that you have to fight to get them the care and supplies they need. It's exhausting!!

This whole family and extended family was just amazing! Often times when a crisis hits a family, especially a child's illness, the family tends to fall apart. This family though just became stronger and closer.

I learned so much reading this book, much more than I ever imagined I would when I first started it. I had heard of dogs who could alert when someone was going to have a seizure but I had never heard of dogs who could alert to changes in blood sugar...with it either being too high or too low. I especially enjoyed hearing about the training that the dogs receive.

Elle's dog Coach is an amazing dog who was specially trained to alert to the changes in her blood sugar...often before she or her parents even knew her blood sugars were in the danger zone. The bond between Elle and Coach was simply amazing! Coach made such a difference in not only Elle's life but also ultimately in the life of the whole family. This is a book you will not regret reading.

This is a quote from the book that truly struck a chord with me and I think it is so very true!

"The fact is, sometimes our most difficult struggles in life lead us to the most amazing discoveries."

An emotional but heartwarming story.

I loved this book. Not knowing anything about juvenile diabetes the trials and tribulations involved in treating this disease was eye opening. But the abilities of the service dog was just amazing. I couldn't put the book down.

Informative and entertaining

Having a seven year old type 1 granddaughter, the idea of an alert dog has interested me for some time. This wonderful book showed not just the positive affect an alert dog has on only the safety of alerting, but how these dogs can allow a T1 child to live a safer and more normal life in general. Well done.

Great book. As a Mom of a T1D I totally relate to everything in this book. I've walked in those shoes and thought and felt everything the author describes about parenting a child with T1D. I would love to have a DAD for my daughter but we can't due to allergies - but it sure was a great read and those dogs are amazing. I wish Elle & Coach many happy healthy years together.

Great read for anyone, not just those affected by diabetes

I LOVED this book! It is so well written and honest. I rode the rollercoaster of emotions right along with Stefany as I read - felt her fear, anxiety, happiness, and hope. This book is hard to put down and I was disappointed when it was over because I wanted to continue on with their journey.
