Features & Highlights
Ever since the one time Andie Weber threw caution to the wind - and paid the price for it - she’s learned that it’s safer and smarter to live life playing by the rules. Now she’s got a great apartment, a steady job, and a wonderful boyfriend in Colin; he’s sweet, stable, and essentially perfect – except maybe for the fact that his best friend is Chase. Chase McGuire lives his carefree, unstructured life strictly for himself. Dripping sarcasm and oozing wit, he refuses to censor his feelings or opinions for anyone, making no apologies for either and wearing his abrasiveness like a badge of honor. No one has ever gotten under Andie’s skin the way Chase does – and vice versa. So when Andie and Chase find themselves forced to take a two-day road trip together, they are already dreading an inevitable all-out war. But as the trip progresses, and the undeniable friction that has always defined their relationship slowly begins to wear away their preconceived notions of each other, Andie and Chase discover they both have a lot to learn about life, courage, happiness, and the age-old battle between logic and love.

Couldn't put it Down!
Finally- a book a couldn't put down! I read a lot and it has been a long time since a story has caused me to stay up till 3 a.m. And then pick it up immediately in the morning. This author has a knack for dialogue and creating tension! Great characters who are easy to fall in love with and a road trip I won't be forgetting anytime soon. Already recommending this to all my friends. Great writing.

This book is worth more than 5 stars!
I'm not so sure why some people didn't enjoy this book. When I read the reviews, I was a bit nervous but decided on taking on the risk based on the Sample I read on my Kindle. I was so glad that I did. I loved the characters. I felt like I knew them personally. I have read in some reviews that people did not enjoy the character of Chase, however, I really liked him. I felt like he was funny and very intelligent. His viewpoint on life really got me thinking, and the conversation between him and Andie really sucked me in. Some people loved the character of Collin, but I was not so much smitten with him. He was a nice guy but he was a stuffed shirt and at points a bit of a jackass. That made the whole thing much better. That is why, this book is one of my new favorites. I will be reading this again sometime in the near future. (:
I can't wait for her book Coming Home, I think if it's anything like this book I will love it 100%. I'm looking into some others by her as well!!

Another great one from Priscilla

Back to You was one of my favorite reads of 2012 and I cannot praise that book enough. It was thoroughly enjoyable. Priscilla Glenn has quickly become one of my favorite contemporary authors. Her books are filled with emotion and heartbreak in addition to life, love and laughter.
QUOTE
"Life is much more enjoyable when you're surrounded by people who just accept you for you."
The story. Andie is an adorable MC who happens to be in a serious relationship with a very decent guy. She meets his privileged friends at a house party and gets locked up in a wine cellar with the worst guy she can possibly imagine - Chase McGuire. He infuriates her to her bones. Andie expects to never see him again. Until.. They all attend to a wedding and she has to drive him there. Expect a catastrophe to happen.
My thoughts. You could seriously cut the tension with a knife in this one. Tension in romance, suspense of what's next to come, the little things that one does not dare to talk about but what occupy one's mind. It was intense! However, even though the first part was so so so good, it got a little boring for me at some point. The last 20% were fantastic though. Emancipating Andie was full on temptation, butterflies; freedom to breathe, love and live.
As for the characters, I absolutely loved Chase as a love interest. It's not that I didn't like Colin, I sure did, but he didn't push Andie to reach for her dreams nor did he push her to open up about her dreams. When one's in a relationship, it should be easy to talk about these things, but in this case Andie didn't dare to speak about her true wishes to Colin. She was embarrassed and that speaks volume. Chase, however, got her to talk and through that they formed a connection deeper than Andie and her boyfriend. The love triangle was inevitable and I liked how there was no cheating in it. We knew it'd get messy with these three, but Andie pulled her big-girl-pants on and did what she had to do in order to make this right - good for her.
I had a tough time with rating this one. I gave Back to You 5 stars since it was one of my favorite books I have ever read. It's hard to live up to that. Since it didn't, I can't give Emancipating Andie 5 stars. Also, the fact that I was a little bored throughout a part of it in the middle, I had to lower the rating another notch. Still, I cannot wait for something else by Priscilla and her writing in general was absolutely marvelous and beautiful. She is definitely an author to explore.

Beautiful, Enlightening, Inspiring
Emancipating Andie is a story of self-discovery, and of falling in love. Falling in love with someone who has unwavering belief , and challenges you to stop being safe and start living. Emancipating Andie is a patient and honest story of two people who make a true connection, and fall in love...despite the logic.
Slow Burn. Those are the words largely define Emancipating Andie, for me. This is a story that isn't necessarily slow paced, but takes its time to establish the connection between Andie and Chase. This isn't a case of two people who immediately fall in love and then spend the story trying to find a way to be together. This is a story of two people who seem to be complete opposites, and completely wrong for each other. Two people, who when pushed into spending time together, start to see beyond the exterior, and find the person who challenges, believes, and makes the other feel alive. This is a story of two people who find a connection, but out of a sense of responsibility and respect, do not cross that line into betrayal. You won't be able to help yourself from rightfully hoping Andie and Chase eventually end up together.
Chase and Andie were both perfect characters. And by perfect, I don't mean their actions, I mean that I loved them and loved reading their story so much. I'm not going to sit here and analyze them for my review, that's no fun for you and it takes the fun out of the story for me. But I will say that Andie and Chase both experience pain and happiness, revelations and change. Those type of experiences are what make characters for me. I don't need them to be perfect, I need them to be real.
A lot of readers are wary of books with cheating. That's understandable. Emancipating Andie is not a book about cheating, but a book about falling in love, and realizing that regardless of ending up with this person you're falling in love with, you don't belong in the relationship you're in.(This makes sense in my head. I hope it makes sense here.) It was a gorgeous portrayal of a young woman who has played it safe, and who finds the courage to truly live her life. Of a man who refuses to betray a friendship, no matter how badly he's hurt in the process. I would also like to point out that I liked Glenn not making Colin into the bad guy, giving Andie and Chase an easy way out. Because the fact is, Colin wasn't a bad guy at all, he just wasn't the right person for Andie, and she's not for him either.
Emancipating Andie is the second of Priscilla Glenn's books I've read and the second I've fallen in love with. In both instances, I found myself becoming overwhelmed by the characters and their story. The writing is so subtle, yet gorgeous and engaging. There was gorgeous passage in which I actually sat my Kindle down and said aloud (to myself) "That was maybe the most romantic love scene I have ever read." I was in awe because it wasn't full of romantic words or graphic at all. It was passionate, and full of all the emotions and love we all should experience in our lives.
Emancipating Andie is a story that I will remember as beautiful, enlightening, inspiring

The perfect read for a lazy Sunday
Emancipating Andie was the just the thing I needed to read. I was reading way too many erotica/paranormal, and to shift from that to Andie and Chase was really nice.
The story starts out with Andie beginning her first date with Colin Tate who is the total opposite of who Andie thinks she is. Colin is the all American boy with the good looks, the charm, and the nice house, and Andie is just...Andie. Why would someone like Colin be interested in someone like her? And yet he is. Without too much questioning why, Andie goes out on a second date with Colin where she meets Colin's best friend Chase McGuire. An instant chemistry sparks between the two but Chase has a way of getting under Andie's skin which irritates her but then excites her at the same time, it also has her questioning her relationship with Colin. She could honestly sleepwalk her way through their relationship, that's how routine it was, but when she met Chase she could honestly say she liked who she was becoming.
But neither Andie nor Chase wanted to hurt Colin, but you know that is inevitable right from the start. What follows is an emotion packed romance full of heartbreak and joy.
I really love this new genre of New Adult books. They're steamy without being sexy, in other words with Emancipating Andie, there was no sex until the very last chapters between Andie and Chase and hardly any kissing either, but we still got the chemistry and the heat coming off the page.
The only thing I did not like about Emancipating Andie were the names. Colin and Chase, it kind of got confusing at first until you got to know the characters.

The Autumn Review for Emancipating Andie
Priscilla Glenn does it again. She created a beautiful story that captured my heart. One of the things I appreciate the most about Glenn's writing, is the way she brings you into the story. She's a builder. The story develops slowly, but maintains the readers curiosity. I have to mention that it was nice to read a stand alone too. I'm a big fan of series, but I was happy knowing that Andie and Chase had their happy ending.
There are so many things about Andie that I can relate to. I'm a very structured person. I wouldn't say that I follow a rigid schedule, but I I don't ever like feeling out of balance. Of course, having kids has mellowed me out a bit, but still...I could relate to Andie and her need for organization in her life. I felt like it was a way for her to feel in control of her life. Once we learned why Andie was that way, it made complete sense. Having someone like Chase in her life was good for her. I felt like Chase really saw Andie.
I loved Chase. He comes across a bit snarky in the beginning, but he won me over pretty quickly. I think he used that snark to cover up who he really was. Because of his own past, he's put up a guard. But really...he's caring, sweet, sexy, and compassionate. I loved how he interacted with Andie. He made me laugh and he made me swoon.
Overall, I really enjoyed Emancipating Andie. The story isn't overly complicated, but I liked that. There was just enough conflict to keep things interesting. And I have to say that once I reached the half way point in the book, the story took off for me. I was glued to the end. With likable characters and an enjoyable story line, you can't go wrong.

Enjoyable take on a controversial subject; love triangles.
After reading Back to You by Priscilla last year and falling in love with her writing and ability to tell such a beautiful love story I jumped on the chance to read Emancipating Andie. I wasn't expecting what I got but I enjoyed it either way. This book wasn't my favorite and not as good in my opinion as Back to You but I think that's because the type of story was completely different than what I usually read. From the blurb you can obviously tell Emancipating Andie has a love triangle aspect. Now I usually don't go for books that have possibilities of cheating and love triangles are a touchy subject for me. The author has to handle them a certain way for me to be okay with them and Priscilla did a wonderful job with this one. She managed to make it realistic, heart breaking, but beautiful all at once.
From the beginning we can tell Andie is up tight to say the least. We don't find out until later exactly why she's this way but it's perfectly understandable once we do discover the mystery. At first Andie annoyed me as a character. Before you tear me to shreds know that I grew to love her. I think it made me sad seeing her alive but not living, it was like she was just content and couldn't and didn't really want to be anything more This is comfortable and as humans we love to be comfortable and usually don't like change but I wanted change for Andie because she deserved something more. Colin was a great guy, he treated Andie well and loved her but he just wasn't right for her. When we learn Chase and Andie have to spend time together I was excited, throughout their little roadtrip I fell more in love with the thought of them as a couple. Andie needed a Chase not a Colin, even though both were great guys Chase pushed Andie outside of her comfort zone and inspired her to be a bigger and better person as she did for him. Colin and Andie were just comfortable, too normal for my liking. The problem with all of this? Well it's obvious, how do you break up with your boyfriend and later let him find out you are possibly in love with one of his good friends or do you even do it at all? I don't know. Who the hell knows how to do that to anyone? In some way someone was getting hurt whether we wanted that to happen or not. I'm not going to spoil the story but the way this situation was handled made me not so afraid to read more books like this in the future and also very excited for her future releases. After a not so great experience with a book with a similar dynamic in the past I was kind of scared of them but Priscilla managed to make everyone happy and better in the end. She managed to show us how people can grow and change for the better even in situations that aren't the happiest or best times. We get to see how people can compliment each other and make one another a better person and overall fall in love with the thought of finding that one true special someone who makes you better in every way possible.
Seeing Andie, Colin, and Chase fall apart and grow up as individuals and together was really enjoyable. The only problem I had with this was the point of view, I would have liked to be inside the characters head instead of having their story told to me only because I feel like I connect with them more that way. I recommend Emancipating Andie for contemporary romance lovers and someone who is looking for a book that will tug on your heartstrings but leave you feeling happy in the end.

FABULOUS.
FINALLY. Finally I am out of my book funk. This was just what I needed. Thank YOU Priscilla Glenn.
Emancipating Andie worried me when I first read the blurb.. I didn't want another typical love triangle book, where the heroine can't decide who she wants to be with so has both. Nuhuh. I had no need to worry, this was not that. This is ultimately Andie's story of finding her true self and going with it. Yes, she has a boyfriend in the beginning, Colin, but he is not where her life should be, and this journey shows her that.
Andie and Chase don't really know each other, but what they do know of each other they can't stand. So when Andie's boyfriend proposes the idea that her and Chase should ride down to their friends wedding together, in Florida, all she can think of is the worst. Two days alone, in a car, with a jackass? Who wants that? Little did she know that those two days would change her life completely.
This is a sweet, beautiful, friends to lovers story. There is absolutely nothing rushed, or fake or unrealistic about Andie and Chase's journey together. The road trip was undoubtedly my favourite part of the book but I constantly found myself dreading the ending, knowing that their story was far from over. What was going to happen when they were both back in their normal surroundings?
If you are looking for something with a realistic love story, that is in no way insta-love then this is absolutely for you. I loved how this book wasn't just about relationships and love. I was so interested in Andie and her story and the whole I was rooting for her to go for what she wanted in life, instead of just settling for what was the safe bet. Chase encouraged her in ways nobody else had, on that road trip he showed her what it was truly like to throw caution to the wind and just live in the moment.
"Don't ever apologize for being you, Andie."
Again, I just have to let you all know that there is no cheating. I know for a lot of people that is their hard limit when it comes to their reads, but there's no need to panic here. Yes there are some wonderful scenes in which Andie and Chase are getting to know each other, purely platonic, 'the piano scene' in particular was one of my favourites. Their love story is just so beautiful to witness and I couldn't wait for the moment when they would finally get it together.
Priscilla Glenn is a wonderful writer. She makes it so easy for you to fall for her characters and believe and feel everything that they are. I loved Back To You and now I can add this one to my growing list of favourites. I just couldn't put it down and found that I never even wanted to.
"His heart was racing, and he wanted her to hear it. And he wanted her to know that from here on out, it beat solely for her."
