Description

Fillies and Females is a companion book to Color My Horse and Jockeys and Jewels. They may all be enjoyed as standalones. From the Inside Flap "Five stars. Probably my favorite in the series because I so enjoyed watching a timid, beaten down girl become a woman to be reckoned with." - Lit Asylum Becky Rivers yearns for a loving family of her own and carves out a home as companion-nurse to an aging Texas matriarch with more opinions than horses. Bruised by years of neglectful foster care, Becky avoids the limelight but is forced to team up with a hunky horse trainer in order to salvage her employer's valuable race stable. Soon she is caught between a murderer and a ruthless saboteur...and her only ally is a man she can love, but who she certainly doesn't trust. Bev Pettersen is a three-time nominee in the National Readers Choice Award as well as a two-time finalist in the Romance Writers of America's Golden Heart® Contest. She competed for five years on the Alberta Thoroughbred race circuit and is an Equine Canada certified coach. She lives in Nova Scotia with her family, and when she's not writing novels, she's riding. Visit her at BevPettersen.com Read more

Another Fantastic Read!

The perfect compliment to Color My Horse. Dino was a favorite character, so I'm glad to see him in this story. Only a few pages in, I had the giggles. I absolutely loved the witty remarks that Betty--oops, I mean Becky had about Dano--oops, I mean Dino--LOL. I've also decided that I want Lyric. I easily imagined this beautiful gray mare with a spunky attitude. She would be a lovely horse to own and ride.

I giggled every time Dino had an inner monologue. It was so cute how he justified his actions to himself. I couldn't help but chuckle out loud at his thought process. This just made me like him even more. I truly rooted for his success with horses and of course with Becky.

SPOILER ALERT... I quickly developed a dislike for Ted, Slim, and Jocelyn, which wasn't hard to do considering they're all weasels. I figured out pretty quickly that Jocelyn had to be involved, but I hadn't figured out the extent until the surprise ending.

Pettersen's pace is great. She had the perfect amount of buildup, and I'm not just referring to the sexual tension. She's a natural storyteller with a knack for details. However, in my opinion you can't go wrong with a romance novel that features rugged cowboys and amazing horses.

Pettersen threw in some twists and turns, and it took the novel up another notch. This may be my favorite of the Racetrack Romance series. Another amazing book.

very enjoyable

This was the second of Ms. Pettersen's books I've read, and I've enjoyed them both. This was a bit heavier on the romance and a bit lighter on the mystery than Horses and Heroin. While I liked the other one better, this was a satisfying read.
