Description

" Food Pharmacy shows the extraordinary power of food to reduce inflammation, restore gut bacteria, and cure disease. Future prescriptions can be filled at the local grocery instead of at the drug store." —Dr. Mark Hyman, New York Times bestselling author of Eat Fat Get Thin "In Food Pharmacy , the Scandinavian approach to healthy eating comes stateside. The book decodes antiinflammatory foods, “good” and “bad” fats, and gut health in a way that is easy to understand and informative. Touted as the “prescription diet you will never overdose on,” Food Pharmacy also includes many health-promoting recipes that range from a luscious golden milk to vegetable-based dishes such as a cold potato salad with prebiotic Jerusalem artichokes." — Clean Eating Magazine "Swedish bloggers Aurell and Clase make their life-changing eating habits a source of education, fun, and sustenance for readers. . . . What’s particularly motivational are their personal stories of trial and error, whether it has to do with giving up breakfast or cutting way, way down on sugar intake. . . . Lots of “ahas” will greet the text, from explanations of each individual’s 100 billion good gut bacteria to symptoms of chronic inflammation." — Booklist "No doubt this is the most chatty and interactive book I’ve picked up on anti-inflammatory cooking. . . . Food Pharmacy is the perfect book for someone who’s just beginning to realize how much their diet may be making them ill, less able, and sluggish." — Edible Shelf "It's not hard to understand why Food Pharmacy became the best-selling book in Sweden. Scientific studies on how we can eat healthier are presented in an easy-to-understand manner and with a great deal of humor." —Brodde Wette, CEO Add Health Media “I recommend Food Pharmacy to everyone. It successfully communicates vital knowledge about nutrition and its correlation with health in a brilliant and easily accessible manner. It invites readers to take responsibility for their health and well-being. While the impact diet has on our health is familiar to many today, not everyone is aware of the facts. Thank you, Food Pharmacy , for contributing to the creation of a healthy and happier world!” —Leena Steen, MD GP Lina Nertby Aurell is a political scientist who has worked with business development and trade promotion on emerging markets. Useful info, simple recipes, beautiful book.

Yes, this book is written simply but the information that it contains is incredible. I thought that I was very knowledgeable about holistic nutrition and gut health, but Lina & Mia offered several new insights that I was unaware of, and they present the information in an engaging way. So what if they are bloggers and there is a conversational tone? I found this book refreshing with its little Star Wars references and interludes - it stands out in a sea of health & nutrition books that regurgitate the same information over and over. There were many eye-opening facts and statistics included which made me second-guess my (perceivably healthy) diet and food preparations.

I think the negative reviews come from people who find that their own lifestyle choices clash with what is recommended by the authors in this book. At no point do the authors recommend living off of sauerkraut, as one previous reviewer stated. They advocate for balance throughout and ensure that substitutions are allowed and that the reader is able to implement change at their own pace. It’s simply criminal that anyone would declare this a one-star book, or leave a one-star review having not read it. Many could benefit from the wealth of information it contains, even if they don’t put it into practice.

pass. this isn't a good one. no new info and weird formatting

So I rented this book from the library (as I do all my books-to see if they are worth buying for my shelf). I am no stranger to digestive health books. I have been living with severe digestive issues since 2012.

This book is a complete pass. I didn't enjoy it. I didn't' find anything useful. I didn't' like the writing style or format. It tries to come off as hip (I think) and it just comes off as weird. There are short story-like parts that make no sense and the recipes are really weird. I'm sorry but with severe digestive issues, raw kale is not on my menu - nor anything raw for that matter. Most of the recipes include kale.

Do yourself a favor and find a different book. This one isn't worth it.
