We love the Stinky Face books, and Princess Pruney Toes.

My daughter and I were in the library the other day and we tried to look up the children's books about Halloween. The only thing about this book that we saw (because it was checked out already) was the title and it cracked us up. My daughter had to shush me from laughing so much as we read the title to each other over and over. - pretty silly. That's what drew us to the Stinky Face books, and so I had to buy this for her, as well as read the original, " I Love You, Stinky Face." What a sweet book! The Happy Halloween, Stinky Face is probably something we'll say to each other for years, and probably laugh as much over as well. Mom doesn't approve of us saying "Stinky Face" to each other in public, so it's sort of our private joke. I hope other dads get to share this kind of laughs and fun with their daughters.

Lacks the charm of the original

My son and I love reading the original I Love You, Stinky Face together and so I was excited to get this one for him as well. Unfortunately I just don't think Happy Halloween, Stinky Face has the charm of the original. The main difference between the two books is that the Halloween book is VERY wordy. In the first book, "Stinky Face" asks if his mother would love him no matter his form, which is very sweet. In the Halloween version, he's asking about his friends and their Halloween costumes, which isn't very fun. We've only read this one through a few times and I find it to be a bit of a chore, so I'm hopeful the other Stinky Face books will be better.

We LOVE her other book, "I Love You Stinky Face," so I was excited for this book. I like it and so does my 21 month old son, but I don't like that all the characters are white. I wish there was more diversity that reflected both our community, and the family we live in.
